Hacking supercard software 2.57 out !!!

Your files are in Z-A order because you copied them in that order.

So lets say you have file:

Apple.nds
Bee.nds
Zoo.nds

Just select Zoo.nds then Bee.nds and then Apple.nds.
So really, you'd be selecting them the other way and will show up in the correct Alphabetical order.

I figured this out when I was using BatchDPG and wanted to covert my videos in alphabetical order, but of course, I haven't tried this for my self, but it should work.

So basically this update does nothing. Thanks SC team for being predictably worthless as usual.

Not updating until I actually find a reason to. Like THDJ support.

Well, actually it wasn't completly worthless.
But considering that THJD recently came out, and this new firmware update can't fit it, yes, it is worthless.

Worthless? This update improves performance across the board for all models allowing all NDS games to run flawlessly on any model SuperCard. I remember when the M3/G6 team did this a month ago it was touted as a breakthrough but now SC users are complaining? This update makes the SuperCard line the fastest and most compatible Slot 2 flashcart on the market, it updates the SC interface and corrects a few other bugs. This is the update I had mentioned a while back an I knew they were working on something big and this is it. The new rewritten card reader code from the Rumble Series works wonders improving all game lag and the DMA option makes it even faster! This is very good news for all SuperCard owners!

@ supermecleboss

Thanks for the info. Everything is working as it should now.

I've never had a single lag or performance problem with any NDS game on the Supercard so I don't really see what it's improving.

The only thing that could be improved is the terrible GBA support and I have a dedicated GBA card for that.

I tested both my SuperCard miniSD and Lite models with the new software and firmware and I am quite pleased. I would say there is about a 10-20% increase in performance on the miniSD model as the SuperCard Lite is already fast enough where you can't tell the difference. I patched over 50 games with DMA and the only ones that had problems were the ones below. Other than that Animal Crossing showed significant speed increases on the miniSD model during the press start opening and when leaving and entering houses. The speed increase was also there for Tony Hawk and improved the Castlevania video a bit. This was one hell of an update that made the SuperCard line even faster than it already was. With a little testing you'll notice the speed difference as well, especially if you use an SD model.

Problem Working with DMA:
MegaMan ZX
Mario Hoops 3on3
New Super Mario Bros
Mech Assault
Metroid Prime Hunters

anyone had trouble running homebrew on this 1.70 FW?

I've found that the latest public beta of DSPEC wont work on 1.70 two black screens but its fine on 1.63

tried redownloading 1.70 too but its still the same.

This will only fix the SuperCard related speed issues for DS games. The Spyro games should have never had any problems unless you had a very very very slow memory card. This will fix any slowdown and lag you might have been having in DS games and can even make the Castlevania vid test improve your score 1 point meaning if you were getting a 3/4 you should improve to 4/5 or better! This update modifies the SuperCard bandwidth so that memory being read and written to the memory card is done faster which reduces lag and slowdown.

Enjoy,

Do you have to update the firmware to benefit from DMA? Or is it enough with the patcher?
I don't want to upgrade the FW because all that crap about FATSort not working etc.

You have to have the updated firmware if you plan on using the new patcher or most of the games will not work. You would take sorting over a 20% performance increase?

I thought the sorting concerns were already answered with bionicspider's reply:

With the the new updated firmware, try using FolderSort for alpha sorting. FolderSort is a bit slower than FATSort, but FolderSort sports the option of sorting in reversed order, thereby fooling the SC's new firmware into displaying your files in the proper--A-Z--order.

** FolderSort **

I quote this post once again - for those of you who had not seen it the first time.

Boy oh boy! Folder sort works but it sure does take a long time to do it's magic.

It must have been at least 5 minutes to resort my 2gig SD card whereas Fatsort did it in a couple of seconds.

I heard Animal Crossing has faster loading while going in and out of houses. Is this true? Otherwise I'm going to keep my old 1.63 firmware on ntil the next update.

I tried the new firmware, and was unimpressed. I rolled my SuperCard back to 1.63b and will wait it out till there's something worth updating to. Personally, I didn't notice enough of a difference to justify loosing FATSort.

So lets get this straight...the new update gives us...

A new SC image on the bottom screen
No compatibility for Tony Hawks downhill Jam
No compatibility for the Internet browser
A new more confusing method of listing the games

Whats the point....are Supercard team going raving mad....

DSXtreme seem to be doing a better job....anyone wana buy a SC MiniSD, with a 512MB
