Your comment is stupid.

QUOTE(Anakir @ Feb 17 2009, 07:49 PM) Before you begin. "tourneyfag, play Brawl like it's meant to be played, items, lolfoxfinaldestinationonly" This is for those who lost their interest for Brawl (me). This will definitely keep it alive for those who were looking for competitive play since the first time you heard there was a Super Smash Bros. for the Wii.

Anyways, the people behind Brawl+ is currently working on momentum so the character doesn't feel dead the moment they jump out of a dash. There's been mini Brawl+ tournaments as well with nice results. A lot of people are getting more and more interested.

Edit: also, there's live broadcast of some people who fixes issues that come up in Brawl+. They provide quite an entertaining show. http://www.justin.tv/shanus19 is the channel, but it's only on when they're broadcasting.

This looks fun enough, maybe I will try it later when I have time.

What's with kids these days? Always trying to force their opinion on other people. Leave your Wii alone, you aren't supposed to install HBC and run unlicensed stuff on it.

I really like this project, but I have to admit I'll never play it. All of the people I play Brawl with are local and play regular SSBB as they don't have modded systems. Throwing Brawl+ at them would remove the even playing field as they've not had the opportunity to train on it.

Have fun though.

Live stream is running at the moment! Edit: It's over for now. I'll update when there's another livestream.

Take a look to see how it's like. No harm in watching right?

You don't need to register to watch.

It doesn't actually need a mod. Even softmods don't harm your Wii anyways. Just the HBC. They told me you can even run it on 3.4 as long as you don't have connect24 on (the stuff that sends Wii data to another friend). You can still go online to play WiFi too. But thanks for taking a look. Hope you change your mind in the future.

QUOTE(xDarkElement @ Mar 5 2009, 12:13 AM) you forgot wave-dashing and 1 airdodge?

We are not using wavedashing or Melee airdodge system. We want to keep the original Brawl's uniqueness without making it boring.

Also, I editted the first post. I added one video to show the potential of Brawl+

You guys seem to forget, brawl+ was meant to have the 1 airdodge + wavedash to preserve melee. People have found melee more fun and skillful. When i play normal brawl its boring. This brawl+ is just things that are a little bit faster.

Again, we are not Melee 2.0. We will not include wavedash and directional air dodge. You may, however, add in wavedash to your version of modified Brawl.

There's 1 huge reason why Wavedash will never work in Brawl. In Melee, there was light shield and normal shield. In Brawl, why don't we have that? Because Brawl doesn't recognize the spring inputs of the L/R buttons. So, L/R is not sensitive in Brawl. This makes Wavedashing very sloppy.

And 2. Wavedashing is sloppy and has been tested already. Believe me, you won't want it after watching this video.

Anyways, on to what you said about Brawl+. I agree with you. It's faster, but not just by a bit. I'll give you a list of some of the things that we have in Brawl+

-Lag reduction upon Aerials
-Momentum
-Hitstun (a big thing. Combos.)
-Teching (it was already in original Brawl, but because of hitstun and gravity modifications, teching is actually useful now)

You gotta try it out to see what I mean. Or else, there's no point in arguing.

That's a really good idea! The people writing that they like brawl the way it is and that nothing should be changed (lol, forcing people to like + ??) is all well and good for them but for the people deeply into the smash bros competative gaming side brawl was a monstrosity. Personally I never really liked smash bros but I'm more against nintendo gaying everything up because of the 'casual' gamers, if theres an advanced technique here we'll quickly have to remove that so there's no competition and noobs have an equal chance of beating an elite... It seems to be their main achievement this generation; zelda (was apparently too easy??), smash, mario kart especially, mario galaxy, ect.

I was fuming that MKW was rubbish.. they can't leave anything alone. They pretty much tried their best to make the most boring, skill depleted game possible. items should add to the stratergy, not determain who will win. MKDS nailed that. Like melee, why couldn't they build on that leaving the same gameplay mechanics but with new levals, characters, graphics and online? That would have been too easy.

You sir, speak the truth. I agree 100% with you. None of us are trying to force people to like this hacked game, we just try to allow those who lost interest in the game to try something "new".

Also the thing about Nintendo dumbing down everything. So true as well. Nintendo always seem to try to remove competition.

I know they're trying to make it fun for everyone, but it sucks out the fun for the people who have been following the series for the competitiveness for a long time. I enjoyed Mario Kart on the DS, but Mario Kart now is no longer fun to me except as a party game. Same with Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

I should probably say that Brawl+ doesn't involve alienation as well. It takes adaptation from the previous one, but no alienation involved. There's still no technical skills (a negative for me, but I can't complain 'cause like the project.

Thanks for your opinion.

Anakir. First and foremost, this is AWSOME, thank you thank you thank you! Last year when I was in college a few of my friends and I played Melee 1-2 hours a day almost 7 days a week, when Brawl came out the "slowness" really turned a lot of us off. I just have 2 quick questions.... First these patches do they apply in all modes such as SSE or just in Brawls? My 2nd is a weird thing but and I don't know if you all consider requests, but I used to main Samus, I feel she was realllyyyy gimped by her final smash turning her into Zero Suit, is there any way a patch could be done that post final smash Samus remains Samus, and those who like Zero Suit, they could remain as Zero Suit. Either way keep up the good work, I am sooo happy for something like this!

I looked at the website you linked to and I really want to try this out,
but I can only find NTSC-U and PAL code sets.
If there was a NTSC-J version too it would be awesome!

We're looking into it.

If I didn't play Brawl before, does Brawl+ contain everything from the original Brawl but with added extras?

Yes, it's Brawl with extra stuff. You don't have to learn anything new. It's only a matter of adaptation. Unless, no snap-on ledge is new to you.

No, sorry. It only applies to multiplayer. Whether it be 1v1, 1v2, 1v3, FFA, 2v2. It's basically made for the competitive scene. Items are glitchy with this patch because we're trying to focus mainly on competitive play at the moment. Try it out.. you'll love it if you played Melee that much. I'm not saying Brawl+ is pretty much like Melee, but it's got that adrenline rush feeling when you play Brawl+ like it did with Melee. You gotta try it out to see what I mean. But, you might never turn back to original brawl after trying it.

BUT, we do have other projects that aren't just made for competitive play too. There are projects that are made specifically for items+FFA (for the fun and lulz), and other crazy random projects. Be sure to check it out though.

Samus and ZSS are both very good characters in Brawl+ though. Samus is a combo machine.. Check out this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LsBldnkumJw but the codeset is outdated now.

You can ask around: http://www.smashboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=209

Or live chat: http://www.gamesurge.net/chat/brawlplus

--------------------------------

Also, there's a beta 3.4 beta codeset at the moment. I HIGHLY recommend trying it because we made teching awesome. There's wall techs, edge tech, and proper ground tech now based on frames. The old one in brawl was based on distance.. which wasn't practical.

Brawl+ project is currently low on lines. Gecko OS 1.07b only allows so many line of codes to be added. We're around 250/256. We're trying to work our way around it. So, be patient.

--------------------------------

Edit: installing Brawl+ is a quick and easy process. Does that mean you can't go back to Brawl? No. You can still play brawl, just load it normally without the homebrew channel and you're set. You've got nothing to lose.

I used to have a hard time beating Marth on vBrawl as Ganondorf...

Thanks to Brawl+, Ganondorf is much better. (But I now suck when I play as Fox and Falco...good trade-off or not? Ah well.)

Yeah. Ganon is so much better now. Murder Choke to tech chase follow ups. Plus, momentum with his Murder Choke is awesome. dAir to anything. fAir is mad strong for a punish. Ganon only requires a few hits to kill. This is the Ganon that should've been in Brawl.

Fox plays very differently. He's very newb friendly and can combo very well. When facing him, you must DI. For Falco, he's pretty much the same. Better imo, but everything about him is the same.

It's not a trade-off since you only need to adapt.
