The new Super Mario game for the 3DS, Super Mario 3D Land will require a mandatory update to the latest v2.2.0-4 firmware in order to be playable. As well as adding the usual new anti piracy, anti flashcart measures to the 3DS that we would expect, it will also add a button to directly jump into a friends online game, as well as some other friends list enhancements and tweaks.
