Apparently, it's a new title in the PS1/PS2 series. The graphics show some very nice graphics. It's 3D character models on 2D backgrounds. The battles are fully 3D.

I don't know much about the series besides the fact that it's pretty popular and highly rated. This will be the first one I'll play. Actually, maybe I'll pick up one of the PS1 games sometime to get acquainted to the series first. At any rate, there's a fairly good chance of a US release. Most if not all the other games were released here. Here's some scans from Famitsu:

Reminds me of Soma Bringer, except the backgrounds are even more beautiful!

And isn't it funny how the DS was once considered an RPG-starved handheld, and now we get a flood of them?

EDIT: BTW, anyone care to take a stab at translating these scans? I appreciate it if you do!

It's just assumption on my part, but most of the games were released in the US. The PSP has a fair amount of games that never made it over to the US. The DS does as well though. We'll see.

A year ago, everyone was whining that the DS had no really decent RPG's. Now it has a flood of awesome ones!

Yeah, that really makes the DS a very good platform for gamers.
We have all kinda genres of games now

Wow, man! This is why we don't need a next-gen DS just yet. Seems like the best is yet to come. Sweet news.

This won't be released in US/EUR...
Oh my god! Your source contains such damning evidence too!

Don't need evidence really....as I'm just stating an opinion. (history has shown this)

Anyway, the Facts:
Suikoden 1 & 2 were released only on Sony Playstation
Suikoden 3, 4, 5 were released only on Sony Playstation 2
Suikoden 6 is most likely in the works for Sony Playstation 3 [source]: http://www.suikosource.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=4412

Although Suikoden 1 & 2 were ported and released in Japan on 23rd of February 2006 for the Sony Portable Playstation, they haven't as yet been released for the US/EUR market.

You have to ask yourself why these ports haven't been released yet outside of Japan. (they were popular back in December 1996 & August 1999 respectively in Europe and in the US). I bet there are plenty of us who want to replay them (without using the PSP as a PSX)

So from the above, it's highly unlikely the DS version will be released for the DS outside of Japan.

However, if they release Suikoden 1 & 2 for the PSP - the chances are that they will do the same for the DS version.

All of the main series (not including ports) have been released in the US. This DS game is a new game in the series. It's more likely than not that this game will be released in the US.
