Hello guys,

Just bought a CFW switch and realized that my switch is only showing 480p on resolution on both handheld mode and docked mode even on automatic i feel its 480p.
So i googled a fix for it and i read that it needs to be factory reset so my question is:

1.is there a reset that saves my games without downloading it again?

2. Is there another work around for this?

thanks!

tried this on 2 tv and a monitor.

thanks but does this delete my downloaded games?
its kinda of a hassle downloading them again on a slow ass internet here.

Have you tried manually changing the screen size via TV Settings?

  1. From the HOME Menu, select "System Settings."
  2. Scroll down the menu on the left-hand side of the screen and select "TV Settings."
  3. Select Adjust Screen Size. (Dock the console and follow the on-screen prompts to manually adjust the screen size)
Additionally, changing the TV Resolution here may also help.

Manually set to 1080
TV Resolution. This can be set to:
  • Automatic
  • 480p
  • 720p
  • 1080p

Are you sure it's in 480p on handheld mode as well? Because that would be... bizarre.

Yes only auto and 480 this is on handheld mode

if this doesnt work then perform a factory reset on the system, it's a software issue

you do have a problem with screen size, resolution 480 780 1080 are screen sizes/Resolutions Higher the resolution (dpi) better the picture quality

You could also try (its untested but worth a shot)
without having to factory reset and lose your stuff. you can use the choidujourNX method and apply the same system version you already have,And untick factory reset when seen

UPDATE SORRY I SHOULD OF THOUGHT OF THIS SOONER
USE THE DEV MENU SIR AND GO TO THE DEVICE PAGE:)
IF THAT DOES NOT WORK YOU CAN RUN THE SYSTEM SETUP PAGE FROM THE DEV MENU :) (MAY RESET THE CONFIG WITHOUT WIPE)
Dont mess with anything your not sure on as some of the options are dangerous Only use the device page and change the resolution, or run the system setup again

Backup your switch nand and keys first before using dev menu just incase, You and everyone here should have a backup of there switch i cant stress this enough >This backup guide is the sheeet >>Click

-snip, contained link to devmenu which is against tos-

Do you have any other Switch or display to try?

Its normal for Switch to have problems with certain displays. I would guess something to do with the HDMI handshake. One of my old DVI monitors (1920x1200) the Switch outputs 1600x900 when set on "auto" and only offers "480p" as a selectable option. It works perfectly fine on other TVs and more recent HDMI monitors though.
