So I believe I managed to strip the thread of one of the phillip head screws out side case on the right side of charger port or maybe even the insert/nut side. It felt like it went in good but as it approached the end of travel it got slightly tight then started free spinning.

Its fully in, just trying to tighten or loosen it causes it to spin freely.

Has anyone else had this and able to easily recover the screw? Not liking the thought of drilling it out as it will probably free spin. The head of the screw is in great condition still and has not been rounded out so I don't feel I was being heavy handed. It also didnt feel like it was cross threading going in but they are small screws I guess.

Cheers

I have used this guide in the past. It's for a camera but I used it on my GBA.

So the head of the screw is fine its still a perfect + shape, i beleieve the actual thead or retaining thread in the switch is stripped. So when I turn, it just spins freely and its pretty well screwed all the way down so i have nothing to grab to try and give it a bit of backwards pressure to see if i can get it to bite

I would remove the screw head with a dremel then invert it and cross your fingers the rest of the screw falls out..
What screw (on the switch) is it?

I use the rubber band trick. You put a rubber band in front of the screw then unscrew it. It works for me, and it worked for those fucking disgusting screws they put on the phat PS3's HDD bay

Its probably a long shot, but have you tried turning your switch so gravity is pulling the screw out and then turning gently? You could also try removing the other screws and separating the shell slightly so you can put some torque on the screw.

So when i say stripped I mean the threads on the screw shaft, the head is totaly fine the + section is perfect and i can turn the screw, its just flush with the switch and will no longer tighten or loosen.

I screwed it down and as it reached its point of where the screw should stop it tightened a little then started free spinning even when trying to undo it it will not come out so I'm assuming I have manged to damage the threads

Its the screw that sits to the right of the charge port outside case

Ohhhh i have bad memory of them... And the "under battery" screws of any DSi 3DS... x) i had to drill a screw from a 3DS and a 3DS XL from there every time...

Im feeling like this will be my only option but because of tbe design of the switch case it maybe difficult
