At the beginning of the month, I bought my 2 daughters a 3DS XL each (I already had mine). We've been StreetPassing 2-3 times per day and the girls have been trying to collect all my puzzle pieces, working together to make sure they don't take the same piece from me so they can collect them faster.

Since yesterday, their 3DS consoles stopped communicating with each other. They both communicate with mine fine, and they're able to local play wireless games together, it's just StreetPass that isn't working (not even for games). Today, I checked them both and one of the Miis is missing from the other 3DS's plaza. I asked my little girl if she'd erased it and she said no, but she probably did it without realising. Does anyone how I can fix it so they start communicating properly again?

I've looked all over the Nintendo website with no luck, and I've tried changing the Mii characters used for StreetPass. It's like one 3DS has blacklisted the other or something.

Go to Streetpass settings (in game) and turn Streetpass off then back on for both units. Then turn spotpass back on as this is turned off automatically when streetpass is turned off.

Should work again after this. Also keep in mind that if either system is connected to the internet, they will prioritize downloading stuff over spotpass before they will streetpass.

I've tried this, but nothing's worked yet. I guess I'll leave it a few hours and see if it fixes itself, for now.

I'd say try shutting off the system and restarting. Also, were any of the involved units time-traveling for extra play coins? That will disable streetpass for 24 hours, I believe.

8 systems in my house, and they hit each other every 8-12 hours. whole thing goes pear shaped if you mess with the clocks, even for daylight savings time.

Nope, nothing like that. I've been playing properly since the girls got their 3DSes, not touched the clock at all.

What's weird is one of those 3DSes has stopped streetpassing my 3DS now too. Her Mii is still in my plaza, though, unlike the other 3DS where she disappeared. I've deleted our Mii's from her plaza to see if the problem corrects itself. I've never done it before, but it asked if I wanted to add her to the block list. Of course, I chose "Don't add", but is there another way they could have ended up on the block list?

Have they been time traveling? You said you haven't, but have they?

If you haven't done much eshop purchases on them, or have no digital games, I'd do a factory restore and see if that fixes the problem.

Otherwise, I'm leaning towards one of them accidentally blacklisted the other. I don't even know if you can un-blacklist someone without a factory restore.

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
