I have a question. How come the DS Lite Slot 2 cover has those gold strips similar to a gba cartridge? Does it have any components inside?

These are probably for making it fit better and keeping the dust away from the connecters.

To keep the cover in place. It's the interaction of the PCB in the dust cover and the socket in the DS that holds it in place, NOT the tightness of the fit.

The PCB is devoid of components, but it does have some printed tracks... Inside view

That's a good idea, but for the price I could either buy a bigger MicroSD card, or buy a Supercard Lite.

I use 1GB cards because I got both of them for around $10 after rebates and shipping.

I haven't seen a deal for 2GB cards below $40 if I recall correctly.
