So Steam's currently running this thing where they set out objectives/achievements in games, and if you earn them you win prizes from steam's catalog. Well, it doesn't restrict itself to games you own... and offers to sell the games to you at the current discount if you don't have it.

Not a very thinly-veiled attempt to boost sales, but I have a feeling it's going to work.

They did it last year as well, and last summer. It's becoming pretty common. Though this is the only time they've offered real games as rewards instead of something lame.

It's a nice little extra incentive on top of the absurdly good discount to already cheap games.

First challenge is kinda odd. You get a prize for joining the competition, and a prize for looking at that prize. Both prizes are free though, so I'll take it...but all I got was a coupon and a lump of coal.

Oh, and this page has a list of games+achievements that might be objectives later in the competition.

I got a coupon and a copy of "Uplink". I figured everyone would get those, I guess Uplink wasn't guaranteed after all :D

I got a coupon for L4D GOTY and 50% off Valve titles.
So far most of the objectives have been on games i'll never bother to play.

I got a lump of coal and Half Life 2, which is fairly cool as I just got Gmod from a friend.
Haven't got any thing else as I don't have a penny to spend.

The prizes you get (excluding the first one) are at completely random. You can get games, TF2 items, coupons, or a lump of coal.

Kinda makes me sad, since the third one I got was another lump of coal. One of my friends got Half-Life 2.

I knew the normal prizes were random, I just figured the first couple of free ones would be set.
