im interested in this, but can i use the rescue menu to boot hbc? or how would that work? because the only reason i favor preloader is because of its brick protection and option to boot hbc. just tryin to expand my horizons. thanks in advance for whoever helps me.

I've never used Startpatch before... Will it work with BootMii? Which is better Preloader or Startpatch? (or are they even close?)

I use it with bootmii, bootmii doesn't affect the system menu so it can work with preloader or startpatch.

Bootmii either needs IOS254 or a boot2 replacement, either doesn't affect the system menu, in short, it will.

Glad to help

And if any idiot decides to say it doesn't, I use it lol.

Okay. So, I assume you install Startpatch from The Homebrew Channel. Is this how you configure it too? Is Startpatch easily removable?

Help me. I have Startpatch 4.1 PAL and when i want to instal it, its gives a -4 error! Can some1 help me plz?

Well, that was problem with the file size. Japanese and European system menu versions of StartPatch will get error '-4'. No solutions to fix that error. The NTSC-U system menu version of StartPatch always work fine.

BTW. This is the very last post of this topic.
Er...he can't use the NTSC US version if he has a system that isn't NTSC US. Even if it DID let him, chances are it would screw the system menu up since IIRC the patches are in different parts of the DOL in other regions.

Yes, its just patches. The region free stuff isn't good but the rest works fine.
Sorry, for my ignorance... What are you saying "Yes" to?

Both things. You configure it by loading from Homebrew and it has a list of patches. Press A to install the patch or B to uninstall it. If it says nothing to be done, its already installed or already uninstalled. When all the patches are ready, save them to your nand and your good.

And at least your asking. Its better than what many have done in my newest thread.

So is Startpatch v4.1 compatible with cIOS38rev14?
On the Startpatch GBATemp page it says, "uses install a cIOS rev12 or HIGHER ,new ios 36 don't truchabug and gives failure to read the sysmenu"

Okay. I just installed Startpatch's "skip update check" feature. I'm using cIOS38rev14, so it must be compatible. BTW... MPT is playing flawlessly, so far. I heard that cIOS38rev14 also breaks dual-layer reading, so I won't know until I hit the layer-switch whether or not I'll be able to play all the way through!

MP3 is partially on the second layer so if you're running it on there, thats gonna be the only problem. Own the game though or use a loader with MP3 and your fine.
I own all the "Prime" games, including Trilogy. GREAT series! ...well I didn't like Echoes that much, but I still played it.
