Starfox 64 on Mupen64-360

Hi, this game runs fine in single player, but when I have 2 controllers connected and try multiplayer for some reason it shows 4 players having to press A to proceed so we are stuck on this screen as only 2 of us want to play.

Mario Kart 64 works fine in 2 player mode (but you specifically get to choose the 2p mode so that may be why).

Anyone know a way around this?
