Lots of Federation ships have cloaks- both openly and illicitly. They know how to make them. They know how to use them. They just choose not to because of that stupid treaty.

voyager never had a damn cloak when they entered the delta quadrant and you can't just make a cloak out of thin air with the materials and supplies they had on board. it doesn't work that way and no don't bother using the replicator card either still couldn't do it. and plus cloaks use a shitload of power did you forget voyager had limited power and resources to rely on?

You don't have any points to "counteract"- cloak technology was over a hundred years old at that point and had been widely disseminated through the federation- the federation chose not to utilize it in order to placate the romulans. It would be like if we decided to forgo steamship technology in order to make peace with Russia. It's stupid as fuck to think that we don't know how to make it, just like it's stupid as fuck to think that the federation wouldn't be able to make such a simple device if someone was stuck on the other side of the galaxy. And again, it's stupid as fuck to think that they have "limited resources", and I've already mentioned why before you stumbled in and started screaming.

Really starting to wish I never made this thread. Some of you are just displaying the negative parts of the Star Trek fandom. Actually it's an issue with geek fandoms in general. You always have the one sect that always has to be right and "matter of fact" about every damn thing. Add that to the fact that they never want their "favorite whatever" to evolve to be accessible to a wider audience and no wonder people turn they heads away from that "favorite thing". Instead of being mean to each other, some of you need to reevaluate your selves.

You are still using power to make those materials produced by the replicators. I do not think it is stupid to hold on to principles and morals just because you are lost far away from home. They debated this several times throughout the first 3.5 seasons of the series. And do not for get about the Equinox. Their crew through away their principles and morality to try and get home faster and became savages. The revival series reveals, The federation makes the Equinox's horrific action classified. To not only protect their family and friends from public ridicule but to make sure their Allies do not here of it. Cause the Federation are afraid the Equinox law breaking would start a galactic war and a prevent the Deta friends Voyager made from eventually joining the Federation.

I love me some Star Trek, and even though I'm more of a fan of TOS (gotta love that 60's cheesiness and monster-of-the-week format) and TNG I'll probably enjoy it nonetheless, just like I enjoyed the movies.

I recommend you all watch Red Letter Media's Mr. Plinkett review of the Star Trek reboot, it really helps put things into perspective.

The Animated Series was awesome. I thought it was going to be lame before watching it (I was on a journey to watch EVERY episode of Trek). If anyone here has not watched it yet, go watch it now! It's worth every second!

As much as I like the newer Star Trek movies, this whole shift with the Star Trek universe kinda put me off. Yes, I know I had recently spoke about how we shouldn't take these things so seriously, but it's like someone wrote a book, and then someone came along decades later and decided to rewrite it because they could, not whether it was needed.
