I know Star Ocean was released on the Super Famicom but I have also seen roms of it on Super Nintendo. Are they the same, just one ported over, or are they both different games?

But the original Star Ocean in the Super Nintendo form was never actually released outside of japan but there are i believe a few fan translations available.
There is also Star Ocean : First Departure available for the psp
