Can you really release something like that, I mean what if there are minors on this site?!

Jeez I didn't know you guys were such perverts.

Lulz jk.

Wow! 20,000 views! We haven't been honored with a sticky, but we are surely honored by the love and support

In commemoration of all the support you all have given, we are mixing up this weeks release to show you guys things we were originally saving for the end of the project. I'll give you more details later on today

Awesome sauce. And congrats on the success of this thread and the project.

OK: Just got done talking with Ghosteo

Today's update is not changing, and will be up in a moment!

But the rest of the week will have a bit of a twist

Zero Suit Phazon Samus, the de-transformation of Phazon Samus, has been revealed!

We even changed the pieces of armor that you can throw when you de-transform to match the Phazon suit. Also of note is that Zero Suit Samus' gun seems to be reacting strangely to the Phazon radiation...

...but wait a minute...I thought it was twins week...?

Samus doesn't have any siblings?!

Guess you'll just have to find out on Friday, because tomorrow we are revealing two characters (one set of twins) in a single day!

Your hint for the Duo is:
*No body and no soul...

By the way, I might as well tell you guys now.

The super-release we have planned for Saturday is Huge. It will be a pair of twins, and it will be a pair of twins that I think EVERYBODY will appreciate. You will DEFINITELY not want to miss it.

Oh my god no oO

In just 10 minute I have found four files that ALL have the IDENTICAL stock icons! What on earth were they thinking!?

The first page is getting a little image-heavy with the high resolution pictures. Will the older pictures start being thumbnailed for bandwidth conservation (and faster loading) purposes?

Ah...yes I probably should. I shall be sure to do so soon

Yea I've been avoiding the front page for that reason, I'd go to the front page, find the loading pictures that look new, open those in a new window and close the first page =D
Annoying

Edit: apparently, GBATemp's BBC doesn't support tables....

Which mega-sucks. But all non-current week's images are now thumbnails

EDIT: I have hand-gone through EVERY relevant file, and ONLY found the three portrait files we have so far uncovered, of which NONE of those affect anything.

I found files that potentially COULD have the portraits in them, but I simply don't have the time to go through them. If anyone wants to tackle these, we would appreciate it:

2 and 3 are compressed. (uncompressing now.)

common_en
common4_en
common5_en

contain various animation files.

edit: 2 contains camera animations

Thanks a grip for going through all those oO. I'll stick around until you find what's in 3

There's a couple pac's within 3 that ssbextract can't handle , but not enough to account for portraits.
Otherwise 3 is Item models.

It's no problem, I just run a batch file that goes through them all, and then use windows search to pull up all the png's in thumbnail mode.
It's only slow if ssbextract encounters compressed files, or pacs that it can't handle.

That makes this just absolutely crazy. It seems to me there is NO PLACE these damn things can exist!

I'm currently dumping the partition, and im going to search for two certain hex strings; first the encrypted .bin file that TWO of the texture locations use for character portraits, then the unencrypted .tpl file that ONE of them uses. I'm going to search it on my .iso that already has this particular costume modified. In THEORY, it SHOULD turn up another location, which SHOULD point to the portraits. I am just at a loss for words, this is so unbelievably stupid...

SEARCH 1: Find the .bin file = Only came up once, in the lz77 compressed file. It couldn't have come up that second time I realized because the other one was DOUBLE compressed...
SEARCH 2: Found nothing. Which is correct, because I searched for the ORIGINAL olimar picture, and I REPLACED IT > : (.

This means that those damn pictures must be double compressed in a different location, since the uncompressed version isn't found, nor is the lz77 double compressed version.

Is there a way to use the USB gecko and "see" what files the wii is loading or something?

PURELY in the interest of solving this issue, I have done something insane.

I replaced
*Menu>SelCharacter>Char_bust_text
AND
*Menu2>sc_selcharacter_en.pac

with a text file. This text file was COMPLETELY empty. With both files COMPLETELY MISSING, the game loaded up FINE, went to multiplayer FINE, and had ALL the original costumes intact.

These two files are _officially_ useless. They can be completely erased without mal-effect. I've tested this with EVERY character select menu in the game, from multiplayer to single player (even "challenge").

EVERY character selection menu in the entire game must use that one, hidden portrait location. As for the two above? I don't have the faintest clue what the hell they are for if I can just erase them and have the game still function
