Hi there, new member here - never posted on GBAtemps before. I made an account because I'm having some trouble using Splathax and would really appreciate some help. I've already tried troubleshooting by myself, and OatmealDome in the Modding Hub discord tried his best to help me but even he seemed stumped.

Basically, I've followed Hitzel's instructions in his Splathax tutorial video as closely as I can, but when I press 'Connect' in Splathax, I receive two errors. The first one is when I try to connect automatically (do not enter my IP). It says "No Reachable TCPGecko connection found." The second is when I try to enter my IP manually - it says "Connection to the TCP Gecko has failed!" I checked my Wii U IP address using the "Enable Developer Tools" in the browser, and am 100% sure I'm entering it into Splathax correctly. So, trying to connect both automatically and manually doesn't work.

I've already run the wj44.xyz/k31 website on my Wii U. So, I then go to loadiine.ovh, select TCP Gecko + Kernel (5.5.0-5.5.1), let it run/crash my browser, then open the browser/loadiine again and let it run Step 2. I close the browser, open Splatoon, and wait for the title screen to fully load. I open Splathax and try to connect, but get the errors mentioned above.

I've opened port 7331 through my firewall. I also turned off my firewall and disabled Avast Security when trying to connect. I've even added Splathax to the list of apps allowed to communicate through Windows Firewall. I've ensured that my laptop and my Wii U are on the same wifi network. I've also fiddled with minor things like going through the Splatoon news before opening Splathax rather than opening Splathax while on the title screen. Lastly, I've even tried doing everything on my second laptop but had the same issues.

I'm really at a loss of what else to try and could really use some help. It would be really appreciated
I honestly have no idea. Does your WiiU have any special properties applied through your router, like DMZ Host or QoS? That might be interfering. Also, port forwarding could possibly help here.

Not that I'm aware of. To be honest I don't really know what either of those things are. Is there a way to check?

I wanted to try this but I'm unable to log into my router at the moment - I'll be trying it tomorrow for sure.

There's no way to check without logging into your router, and if you haven't done that than it's pretty safe to say that you don't have anything enabled.

I haven't logged in yet because I'm not sure of the router login information. Just waiting on them to call me back, will update afterwards

2D type texture hack OK.

If you or someone hasn't changed it, you can try the default password and username. Usually "admin" works for one or both entries.

I've tried the default but it didn't work, I'm not exactly sure why. I tried calling my ISP today at 8am, said they're too busy and would call back at 9am. Called me back at 3:45pm as I was literally opening my door to go to work. Trying them again now, sorry for the delay.

The only real reason I want to log into my router is to try forwarding port 7331 to see if it'll help, but I'm doubtful it'll work anyway. Do you think if I used a wired ethernet connection rather than WiFi the TCPGecko connection errors would be solved? Was an idea I had today

It might be possible, but I've tried using two wireless setups with some success, although it did fail a few times. I've also tried a wired and wireless setup which always worked, and my current setup is with two wired devices, which has always worked as well. So I'm not gonna say it will work, but it is a pretty solid possibility.

Was FINALLY able to log into my router today. Ugh, my ISP's service was pretty awful this time around. Before I try wired, could you help a bit with Port Forwarding? You've been super helpful already, thanks again. Someone suggested forwarding port 7331, and I've logged into my router now but don't know how to proceed.

Portforward.com works pretty well if you can find what model your router is. Looking at the options, it seems pretty straight forward, you just have to know what to put in each blank. The port blanks would be where 7331 would go, and you also need the IP for your WiiU. Setting up a static IP would be recommended here.

I know how much of a hassle setting up port forwarding can be, so it may just be better to try the wired setup first.

Patch 2.12 is out!

From what I've heard it broke OctoHax, and it also patched two important glitches.
1) The Beakon + Kelp Dome Spawn exploit that let you to get into the lifted platform area behind the spawn for opponents
2) Patched another glitch that prevented players from placing a sprinkler in the tower in Tower Control.
That's all :P

Unfortunately portforward.com doesn't have a guide for my specific model. It has some for models that are similar though, so I'll try following those guides although the website portal for my router is slightly different. If I have trouble I'll call my ISP and have them help me. And then if that doesn't work I'll try a wired connection. I'm determined to get this working! hahah.

Just one question, I know it will sound ridiculous - but just to make sure: if I want to try a wired connection, will I be connecting my Wii U directly to my router? Or my laptop directly to my router? (or both?)

I'm guessing you'd probably want to only plug your Wii U into the router. A laptop isn't very portable if it's plugged into a router :P

For the most success, I'd do both, and if that fails, I'd try with only one being wired. (That being either the computer or the WiiU. Try either or.)
