Would it help? Probably not, the 3DS is 802.11g (= 54 very theoretical megabits per second = 6 megabytes per second, minus significant overhead for interference, timesharing, headers for all the OSI layers), and even then the limiting factor is the CPU, not the network card or the SD

I think that first, you have to select download in sleep mode. Also, 3DS is not exactly known for its wifi speed.
