Forgive my ignorance, but what is the normal amount of memory that the system has?

If the app doesn't specify a N3DS memory layout in the RSF/exheader, then 64MB, like the O3DS, but if it lets the system know it supports the New 3DS, then 124 (or 128, whichever). There's also a third mode on the New 3DS: 178 (https://3dbrew.org/wiki/Memory_layout#FCRAM_memory-regions_layout). If it's usable on retail New 3DSes as some claim, it'd be pretty useful.

And I assume this is why Smash and MH4U reboot the system on exit?

Correct. If I had to guess, the 3DS OS goes into a "low memory" mode when it launches Smash/MH on O3DS, in order to give them the RAM they need, which is why it does a hard reboot after you exit (however, if you run another app immediately from the limited home menu, like health & safety, my dummy app, or some other homebrew app, it won't boot you out of emuNAND, and I don't think anyone knows why even to this day). If we had access to the 178 MB mode on N3DS, it'd probably be a similar situation: when you exit the app it'd probably hard reboot, but you could probably stop it by running some other app instead of pressing Home -> X to close.

Sorry, how can I set up the payload with the hex editor?
There should be a payload file on the root of your microSD after you set up yls8's homebrew launcher CIA, you can also manually download it from the "otherapp payload" downloader on smea's github 3DS page. Open up HxD, drag the payload file into it, and do a Ctrl-F search for "boot.3dsx" then change "boot" to "menu" and make sure your Homebrew Launcher 3dsx is named that.

What about those whose already replaced tiger, cver, etc to access eshop with 9.5 emunand. Should we rollback this first?

@Reisyukaku: Is there anything that the end-users should do to prepare for the eventual update?
i'd rather not leak keys and so ive been working to generate most of them.. but it comes down to the fact that you'll need nand key2. So I have yet to figure out what im doing about that lol. Also instead of rushing a release ill work on doing that tomorrow since i have to get up for work in 4 hrs. :x
I lost track of time.

No need to rush it, I think we'd all rather see a quality release than a rushed one that then needs further fixes.

Welp, grabbing that pastebin to toss in a tab for later use...

Still get a black screen upon booting ReiNand with CTR Boot Manager. Booting it from Homebrew Launcher allows for the splash screen to display and works great.
I have ctr boot manager pointing to /3ds/ReiNand/ReiNand.3dsx

Edit: NEVER MIND, I tried again and now it works. So I guess it has a boot rate.
