Sony will be skipping E3 2019

Sony Interactive Entertainment has just confirmed that they will not be making a showing at next year's E3 conference. In an interview with Game Informer, Sony execs claimed that the company is looking for "inventive opportunities to engage the community" as an alternative to a live conference. This marks the second time Sony has skipped out on press conferences in recent time, with PlayStation Experience 2018 being cancelled as well. The reason for skipping PSX 2018 was reportedly due to a lack of footage and information available to be given about upcoming games, but by the time E3 2019 rolls around, PlayStation users will be looking forward to major exclusive titles like Death Stranding, the Last of Us Part 2, Dreams, and Ghosts of Tsushima, all scheduled for a launch in 2019. While Nintendo hosts Nintendo Directs during E3, and EA does EA Play offsite a few days prior, Sony has no plans for a press conference or announcement of upcoming games near that timeframe. This puts an end to the 24 year streak of Sony's attendance at E3, starting all the way back in 1995.

@Chary
Most likely nintendo are going to win next year if they will announce something
We all know xbox is dead already lol
I think sony will announce new titles and and a new IP when they announce the ps5

They wouldn't have enough games to show at E3 anyway. Hopefully they come up with something good if they're gonna pull this.

I went to PAX in Melbourne this year, first convention of any kind, and I know it's nowhere near E3's levels, but I gotta be real, that thing was pretty shit. Waiting in lines to play demos of games that have already been announced and in *most* cases, aren't even too far from release? No thanks. It was just a big ass hall where pubs and devs would set up stuff we already knew about, and then give each other a reach around.

I feel like E3 would largely be more of the same, or at least, that's how it looks from my armchair journalistic position. I can't think of the last big thing that was announced at E3. This current bunch of PlayStations and Xboxs, was announced in February. Backward compatibility on Xbox I think was and E3 thing and that's the best thing I can think of for years now. Don't get me wrong, I fucking love back compat and BC games make up like 80% of my Xbox One stack, but if the only thing E3's done for me is announce something that would have had the same amount of impact if it was just a Twitter announcement, then it seems like it's not that important.

I'm all over the place and tired. Sorry for rambling. I would say Sony would do fine to have kept PSX though, Nintendo Directs are great and Sony saving all their shit for their own event at the end of the year would probably be better than every E3 they've done this generation to me personally.

What, due to the overly brutal scene that everyone was upset about a few months back? I really can't see it being SJW centered either, since we've seen, what? 10 minutes of gameplay at best? Unless there's actual evidence pointing towards something definitively that I've not seen, it's a bit too early to judge the game yet.
The lesbian stuff is SJW. I'm not sure who it appeals to otherwise. Certainly not me and my wife was disgusted with it where I was simply disinterested.

Ridiculous female character that has 0 femininity. Slits a guys throat from behind then walks 10 steps and proceeds to gasp" Oh my god" because she sees somebody killing someone else. uhh wut? There used to be female characters you could fall in love with. Now they're just men without penises. that's my opinion anyway.
So female characters have to be Princess Peach or they arent good? She wasnt very feminine in the first game either. All youre saying is people have to stick in their assigned gender roles, or theyre pushing SJW agendas.

Lesbians are a real thing in the world. Wow imagine that, a real thing that exists is in a video game. Video games arent made to appeal specifically to you. Theres a character in tlou1 who was gay. In 2 we see her kiss someone, oh no. Did literally anyone complain that it was an anti lgbt agenda when Nathan Drake kissed girls in uncharted? Its a thing people do, theres lesbains and they kiss. Go cry about it somewhere else, its not pushing an agenda, its character development.

That's what's weird to me. Sony has like 70% market share according to RDR2 sales alone. Why is this happening?
Complacency.. That's all it takes. Not to mention, the overall quality of games is decreasing, yet sales are climbing. Doesn't that seem odd? Oh, right, consumer complacency.

They could have just tittled it Left for Lesbians 2 and would have attracted more of their target audience. lol

It is not like they do not have anything to show, they can show death stranding, last of us 2, ghost of tsushima, one more game. And then a lot of third party games back to back, and I think it would have been considered decent. I mean it worked for microsoft

Sure, but the entire LGBT spectrum represents 4.5% of the population and obviously lesbians are an even smaller number as I imagine gay men are the main group there. Even still, maybe 20-30% of people accept this without being secretly creeped out or repelled? Great marketing there.

Ok so then 4.5% of video game characters being gay would be equal representment. Right now its probably well under 1% so dont tell me video games are pushing an lgbt agenda when lgbt characters are under represented. And i don't believe for a second that only 20-30% of people are grossed out by gay people. If youre grossed out thats your right but if you have seperate standards for straight or lgbt people/marketing, thats bigoted. If youre ok with a straight couple kissing in a game but not a lesbian couple, youre the one pushing an agenda.

No, 20-30% ARE'NT grossed out and these games are supposed to make money, not appeal to minorities.

Whoops yeah i misspoke, i dont believe that statistic. You pulled it out of your ass. And why cant a game appeal to minorities too? In fact, why are you telling the devs how to make their game? Youre that afraid of minority groups that youre going to say that video games arent meant to have them included?

I'm not really saying that, at least not trying to. For instance, black people are a big gaming market these days and they really don't tolerate gay stuff either. In fact, they don't even seem to like playing as their own race in games generally.
