Sony stops production floppydisks

My father used to use floppies till 6 months ago but then CD's.
1.44 MB was enough to store a word file.

But the only use of it for me was breaking it open and using that round plastic disc in it for art!

I don't think I even own a computer that has a floppy drive. Well, maybe in my basement, but I've already chucked most of the outdated computers.

Real gamers used cassettes.

My bro actually records the cassettes to lossless audio, stores them on his digital media player, an plays them back to his spectrum, something along the line.

It really works.

That is just AWESOME!

At music sxhool there's a really old roland (G800 I think) that has a floppy drive xD. The keyboard is amazing and now even outlives it's secondary storage method! And next to it is there is one that has a ZIP drive (G1000 or something like that), let's see if it will also outlive it's secondary storage

Note: Those rolands are about 30 years old and still function fine (they have been repaired several times though).

I think we still have a box of floppies in the loft somewhere and recently I had to use a few to get some pictures off of Mum's old work computer but apart from that I've never actually used them. I get the feeling that CD's are set to go the same way and get replaced entirely by USB drives, email, etc

I used to use these to format HDDs with the Windows 98 CD but ever since XP came about, I never touch them anymore. I might save a few just in case they're worth something in the future. You never know what'll go up in price

some local job search office only allowed the use of floppies. I guess they dont want ppl downloading stuff. Also, I guess they dont know you can fit malware in them.

It's about time! It was getting difficult to store the 1000's of disks required for todays games!!!

My pen would run out of ink when numbering them. It took HOURS just to get CODMW2 loaded so I could play it. Thank god for the compact disc. It will be the savior!!
