I recently gotten a PS3 with a broken disc drive, I replaced it with my disc drive and when I run a disc. It tries for 3-4 times then it just gives up and stops. There are no signs of it being read in the PlayStation.

Did you keep the original drive?
To clarify, is this a fat or slim model? Because for the fat (and any slim below 25XX) models, the drive controller board needs to be the same (kept from the original) when it's swapped with a replacement drive.
Or if you can't, it'll need to be remarried.
