Filed on December 21 2011, Sony patent a few peripherals for the Move. People are comparing the one above to the Wii u, do you see the resemblance? Do you think they will replace that screen with the Vita to show even more PS3 and Vita interaction? Do you think these peripherals will even show up? Do you want them to? Move along to the source to see more peripherals and give us your thoughts on them.

Oh cool, this seems better than that terrible hunting game gun shell that had a scope you had to use because the makers thought it'd be cool to make HUNTER VISION impossible to use without it.

edit: also I haven't really been paying attention to the wii u. What's the deal? Did Nintendo already release a gun exactly like this with a digital display?

edit: oh they released a picture of somebody using the wii u tablet thingy as a scope paired up with a nunchuck. Eh, I still think it's a cool idea. That other sniper rifle picture seems good too. It's not like there aren't real life firearms with digital displays.

edit again: Far more likely what sony has planned

Hmm, reminds me a lot of light gun zappers in the way it works. Even though it's not the same thing. This peripheral won't be useful for a lot of games though, unless they have non-gun versions for use in other games, like the Wii U.

1. No, no I don't. The Wii U tablet controller displays the screen (or part of the screen, or even a different screen depending on the game) in which the player can interact with via touch controls. This peripheral is a gun with a screen attached that shows what the Move controller is pointing at. I see no similarities other than the fact that they both have screens and they both show what's on the screen (the move at a tinier scale)

2. I severely doubt they'd replace the screen with the Vita as one, the Vita is definitely too big to just throw on some controller, and two that's just a stupid idea in the first place.

3. The peripherals could show up with a few games, like hunting games or sniping games. Other than that, probably not.

4. I wouldn't mind, but probably because of my fascination with the Marksmanship type games that this controller would be great for.

If this is for the PS4, I'm definitely out.

Unless this is used for some games I really like, then chances are I'm not getting it.

Before anyone bashes me, I must say I'm not fond of the sniper Wii U peripheral as well. Generally, I'm not TOO fond of additional peripherals used for certain games.

yo dawg i herd u liek peripherals so i put a peripheral on your peripheral so you can spend money.

If there's one thing that annoys me about gaming, it's peripherals. The last thing I want to do is spend money on a Move and then more money on a peripheral for the Move.

However I have seen gun attachments for the Move before but nothing with a screen.

It's uh clearly based off the concept Nintendo showed E3 2011.

But I really don't care. It's all seems rather gimmicky to me. Might be okay for hunting/sniping games, I guess.

well i can see another lawsuit between sony and Nintendo in the near future ........ seem like this is a common trend in the gaming one rips of tech from this company or another and than they bitch back,,

Lol, the patent even shows them aiming at someone in a flat.

And that house looks awfully white to me. If only the portrait of the guy in that sniper scope was black, I would've said Sony was patenting terrorist threats. :creep:

well I guess this is what the rail connector on top of the sharpshooter controller is for

Now I love Nintendo and I'm a fan of Sony and Microsoft but this is getting a bit out of hand. Can we please start truly utilizing what we already have before we make more stuff, I mean really we have enough input methods. If they want us to buy shit they need to make more then 1-2 sometimes good, mostly mediocre games per peripheral and actually make use of the damn things. Also a gun, Really? The stupid gun has been done so many times already Nintendo's first console had a gun, shit even older then that had guns, we've seen/bought enough plastic guns. Your gonna use the thing once, realize its not worth the money, then never touch the thing again.

Only peripheral I've liked this gen is the guitar hero 2 guitar I have for my xbox 360. It led me through Guitar hero 2, Guitar hero 3, and Rock Band1-3. Its actually useful for playing a game and the game you can play with it actually has replay value, I still bust the thing out from time to time to play some rock band 3 with friends.

1) That peripheral, which I clearly stated there was more in the source, doesn't make a difference.
2) If you implying that I hate Sony then you didn't know what you talking about and I'll ask you kindly to get out.
