The latest IOS 53 version is v5662.

The latest IOS 55 version is v5662.

The latest IOS 56 version is v5661.

Makes sure all those are installed and it should work.
I've installed all of those wads and I still can't get it to work...

I'm on 4.1E. If anyone can help please PM me as I'm going to sleep soon. I have an early start tomorrow. Thanks!

Oh wow, how awesome are the graphics? I wasn't expecting the wii version to be so .... shiny! I like.
The sonic sprite will take a while to get used to, and he does move slightly more sluggishly but, hey, the game really is fun, and it really does feel like sonic (special stages = win!)

All in all, totally worth the hassle.

Don't forget to edit the wad's region using showmiiwads! Otherwise you'll still get a "channel can't be used" error.

The error I used to get before installing the right IOS versions was always error 002. Is that what you're getting?

Where do I get showmiiwads and how do I use it? I'm guessing I change the region and then install them?

EDIT: I've got showmiiwads now.. so what's next?

ShowMiiWads says it uses IOS56 so installing the last version of it only will do the trick. No need to install others.

Since all my non-stubbed IOS are already in lastest version I can't confirm it anyway (someone can please test?)

Drag and drop the wad onto showmiiwads, right click where it says NTSC, and select Regionfree. That's it!

The iPhone version is about 90MBs and this is like 45MB. Does the iPod version have more stuff in it then the Wii version? Pretty weird how a handheld game has more MB then the console version.

it's probably the same content wise. just different loading stuff for different os

I got the game right as it came out and installed it quick AF.

I managed to get to casino street or w/e act 2 and stopped playing.
Well the game is okay but they're some TO many things that disappoint me -__-""

It might interest you guys to know that Dolphin-emu was already fixed for Sonic 4!

R6269 fixes the issue of controls not working on Sonic 4, now you can use any controls you like.
You can download it at www.dolphin-emulator.com.

I think Nintendo has some weird magical compression methods, that's all. SMG2 was a bit over 1 GB while SMG1 was over 3 GB.

Just played the game its really fun. I wonder how it compares to the iPhone version and the PS3/360 version. I do see that the graphics are better on the Wii then they are on my iPod, for now I don't really know about which one is better in gameplay wise.

SMG1 had FMVs whilst SMG2 was all animated real-time instead.
That's all.

It's the truth. anyway, back on topic, the game is pretty cool. reminds me of the genesis launch day when i played the original sonic for hours. people may complain about things but i think the nostalgic factor is huge for some of the older guys out there.

I'm not getting a nostalgic vibe from Sonic 4 to be honest, all I see is a game trying to emulate something of former glory.
Honestly the physics engine is a mess, with problems in critical areas, level design that repeats a select gimmick too many times, unmemorable music, and a total lack of creative design.

It would've been more nostalgic if the game actually felt, looked, and sounded like a genesis title, take for example Sonic Megamix.

That's what Sonic 4 should've been, original designs, new music, improved gameplay, genesis style.
Sonic 4 isn't even close to what it should've been like, it bears no resemblance to the old games outside of recycling all the stage and enemy designs.

It's not all bad news though, look what I found hiding in Sonic 4, using Dolphin!

Sonic Megamix is awesome.

Sonic 4 is fine, I guess some people have SUPER high standards. It's a fun enjoyable game haha
Not super high, so much as we expect them to meet a standard set 16 years ago.
They haven't, in fact they're far below it.
