Now why couldn't SEGA have done this with the Android/iOS remakes of Sonic 1/2, and also Sonic Mania? Keep the play style as the originals but update the graphics to modern standards... it's not rocket science!

No it doesn't. It looks just as bad as games did back in the 16-but days. People just think it looks cool because "yea... retro rules"

IDK whether you're stupid or just playing dumb... The sonic series along some other titles (namely the ones developed by TREASURE) are some of the best looking games of that console generation.

incoming DMCA :creep:
AFAIK Sega doesn't DMCA fan projects, they know fans make much better games then they do.

Probably through a combination of increased resource requirements and not wanting to change the art style.

They've stated that their goal with Mania was to make a game which looked like something on the Saturn.

Personally, I still like the original art style.

Sega IIRC doesn't generally DMCA Sonic fan games, but they did C&D a Streets of Rage fan game.

That's the funniest thing I've read today. It looks really nice, but is the gameplay the fastest it can go? Because classic Sonic games and Mania were significantly faster than what that trailer showed.

They may have looked great for "that generation" but that has nothing to do with looking great now. Back then, the graphics were impressive. Now... They suck compared to what's possible.

Looks awesome to me, and has nothing to do with retro rules. It wasn't made to look like current gen games.

How do those two sentences not contradict each other?
