Reminds me when I went to Gamestop and asked if they took any old-gen games and the guy at the counter told me exactly, "no, they're too old." I'm pretty sure my reaction was this: :ohnoes:.

Once I returned a game to GameStop after 2 days because it was boring.
The manager said to me "We're not a rental store"

Never gave them another dime.

Well they were too old but at the same time not old enough. I bet they wouldn't have scoffed at NES/SNES games.

I haven't bought anything from them in so long. Still surprised that the closest one by me is still in business!

Well, of course! Collector's items no one wants don't make profit just sitting around, do they?

IMHO covid19 lockdowns would have driven them under, except for the reddit GME stock hype

Wow just checked CEX after seeing your post and their Gamecube prices are insane at the moment. If I cash in my whole GC collection I will make over £8000 and even more if I take store credit instead. I'm definitely heading to my nearest store first thing tomorrow lol.

Question: what would you do with more than 8 grand in store credit?

No idea I would rather have the cash then buy a shit load of GC games cheap from ebay and other places that I know I will get more for at CEX and cash them in for a healthy profit.
