I've made some progress with sonic mania for the ps3. I can get it to run in an emulator, but it will not run on the system (just like how it was with the ps2 version of super mario 64). I'm going to try using the source code of the actual release. however, this version has a ton, and I mean a ton of problems. you'll have to look at the ultra0000 github to see all of the issues. one important one is that it will not work without a decompiled data.rsdk (it needs to be in folder format). it also does not have dlc added to it yet. it hasn't been updated since mid October, and I've gotten no response from the dev:

I didn't realize my old version worked as well with the ps3 emulator, rpcs3. I had put the data folder in the wrong directory. it was on root, when it needs to be in SonicMania folder. I hope I can eventually get this to work on hardware.

Is sonic mania great games ?

I love classic sonic 1,2,3
yes, it's like the older sonics, even has some of the same zones, but I think they're a different layout. I own the game on the switch, and I think I got stuck on a stage, but it's been well over a year since I played it on that system, just too many games in my backlog after not playing much of anything for two generations.

no problem if i try it on my ps3 super slim?

and which .rsdk data do I have to use? the one from steam or epicgames?

it doesn't work on hardware, and I don't know why.
hi sorry for not replying

I checked the .self and already made some improvements and made it an eboot.bin works on all ps3

the improvements i made are
the game no longer needs a usb to load data, no longer creates the log.txt file, faster loading screens.

This is how long the game takes to start until a new game starts and Green Hill loads

the location of the Datafolder and savedata is now at
/dev_hdd0/game/SMAP2023/

If the SMAP2023 folder does not have it, create it and put the DATAFILES

I don't know how to fix the sound, any ideas?

I was reviewing the .self and then I decompressed it to .elf to see the data in HxD
and then convert it again but this time in eboot.bin to run the game through the XMB of the console

my self? do you think something got messed up when it encrypted it to self?

  • Wow

did you decrypt the self first, then rename to eboot.elf and resign to a npdrm eboot.bin?

I might need your true ancestor version.
Yeah
Also, to be able to test it, the ps3 emulator doesn't work for me, so I tried it with my ps3 super slim with hen
