ROM Hack Soma Bringer Open Translation

So, I gave translation the glossary a first shot and I must say it's pretty darn hard. My limited knowledge of kanji (about 500) and habit of grammatical omission doesn't make it any easier. I don't know in what degree DarthNemesis sticked to the original lines, but I'm told I need to translate a bit more freely. Anyhow, my first shot in translation the first Aletheia, General Angst and Idea glossary entries.

@DarthNemesis, when I patch Soma and put it on my 2i it shows up as a NDS program file. Is there anyway to change that?

It seems a couple of people have had this problem with that card.

Awesome work, works perfectly.

Just one little question: Is there any way to make the game show up on my screen like any other official game? (Currently it shows up on my screen with a pictogram of a DS and the program is named "DS Program File")

PS: Yes I'm a nitpick ^^. Oh, and I use an acekard 2, gotta love the menu layout.

Although, there's a little problem with my translated rom: the icon and game name aren't displayed on my AK2i.
It says "DS program file" as name and the icon is just a black&white DS.
Is it possible to edit the name & icon?

edit: when I check the rom with ndsheader, it displays the original name & icon though...weird.

I don't think they ever got past it, but maybe try asking one of them if they fixed it?

Use RomeR or something similar and change the embedded title, that will fix it.

I just thought it was odd like maybe the patch overwrites the header name or something. But cheats still work( I find that odd if the 2i doesnt know what the games called lol) Ok well im going to check out RomeR

The font is still different than the other headers though. No idea how to fix that yet, do tell me if you ever find out^^.

Ok, it just opend the patched rom in Romer and it all shows up right. So this is a problem with the 2i. Fiva55 what flashcart are you using?

Iv got Akaio 1.4.1 on AK2i

EDIT: Got it working. What I did was open up Romer beta 2.1. Change the ROM Title to SOMA BRINGER( it cuts out the "R" at the end not sure why) Then change the Embeded Title to just Soma Bringer. That seems to work cuz now the Icon and name both show up.

EDIT2: if you do this you WILL have to start a new game.

I'm using Akaio 1.4.1 on a AK2. I prefer using "Internal Name" (Title + publisher) for file list style though and unfortunately that is the only style that somehow uses a different font.

There are no problems with "Text List" or "File Name" style, so I guess I will have to change to that.

GAH PROBLEMS KEEP POPING UP. Ok after changing the name with Romer now cheats dont work. So im not sure how to have both cheats AND the name and icon. Im looking into it now.

I have the same problem, my cheats don't work.

Also, should the icon look like some animal sticking his tongue out?

I don't cheat, but I want everything to work properly, even if I don't use it. I don't see why DarthNemesis renamed the rom, it bring more trouble.

Hi guys! Thank you so much for this translation, I feel like this game's something special left back in Japan by Nintendo!

One question though:

I'm totally new to DSi Hacking Scene.

I bought a Dsione card, and workd marvelously with unpatched games.

I'm on a Mac (Leopard) and I had a bit of trouble patching SB.

I put the XD file, the .nds file (128 mb), the xdelta and PatchSoma file.

I the figured I had to rename the .nds and just put SOMA on it. On folder by the same name.

It patched. It's now a 72 MB file, but doesn't work on my Dsi. It recognizes the game (with a bear logo) but never boots up. Any tips?

No, it's 122 mb.

yep as DarthNemesis says the rom should be a lot bigger , i think the patcher dosent work too good on mac OS
