To open SomaTrans you need the .NET framework installed.

QUOTE(Gokuroro @ Jun 24 2008, 04:11 AM) Hey, DarthNemesis. I don't know if it was just a coincidence (probably not?) and, although I was all about "ALMA weapons/armors" it looks like they could actually be "ARMA weapons/armors". Well, why is that? After one of my first fights against Armadora was the first time I got any Alma Shield and some other weapon.

And after I finish my finals I'll probably try to translate some stuff (or at least go through menus to see if there are any errors).
See you.
I don't really have a strong reason to go with either one. Drops are random, though - I didn't get any Alma equipment from Armadora.
thanks dude:D it works

Pleasantly surprised to see the final cut scene of Act 4 in English

Gonna finish out this play through and wait for the Final Translation to go again!

Just another suggestion...

Why not post the latest patch on the wiki? That way, you can just link to the wiki instead of updating your post every day. The upside would be that more people would visit the wiki, increasing your chances of getting people to help out.

Also, I might just play through the whole game without translations. I want to get the clear bonus so that I can make a killer Soma ("you know who" has the best stats for a Soma). If I do this, I'll be able to proofread any part of the game without worrying about spoilers. Yay! =P

P.S. I love this project.

Edit: The character and class descriptions need some fixing. I'll get to it when I get home.

Agreed, seems to be a good idea

I may do that, if I can lock the main page so nobody can edit it. There have been quite a few incidents of vandalism, and I wouldn't want anyone replacing it with a malicious link.

I'm now helping to translate but there's one thing I don't get.

We edit ON the Wiki site, right?
Then, what's the point of SomaTrans? Is it just for editing your own file?

Yes. I copy the wikitable contents onto my computer and import them into SomaTrans using the Batch menu.

We import the contents into the patched ROM, correct? Not a clean ROM?
And I don't get how SomaTrans works. I import the patched ROM and when loading is near complete, I get this:

Unhandled exception has occured in your application. If you click
Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If
you click Quit, the application will close immediately.

Value of '109' is not valid for "Value'. 'Value' should be between 'minimum'
and 'maximum'.
Paramerter name: Value.

Then, when I click Continue, it says "Parsing script files..." and does not move on afterwards.

How do I use SomaTrans?

Ooops, there's a bug with the progress bar calculation and it's going above 100. Man, C# throws exceptions for everything. I'll upload a fixed version shortly...

Edit: Fixed.

dude this translation project pwnsXD its great! i really think it was cool if you were going to make more translation projects!. really.. i think you would do it great... if you wanna do it please quote me:D but this TL project owns!

I used the Cheat Code Editor from the R4 Site - Game ID - YBSJ 9c8cd4ae

Narin it is not showing up

Download and use the latest patch, it works. Somehow the patch changes the game ID, mine was different, when I used the latest patch, it works great

Edit: A suggestion: a tutorial man (or whatever tribe he was) who claims to know lots of things in Anient City Amarty has lots of good knowledge, but he's not been translated yet, how about translate him first? It might help new gamers. Also, when we tried to use Soma Gate for the first time, Myrtle said lots of things, possibly explanations of Soma Gate features, and it's still in Japanese (at least in my patch) maybe it needs some priority too?

Alright, thanks.
And the newest patch is uploaded right? Because it was the 29th before, now it's the 30th.

And one more thing: On SomaTrans, what's "SCRIPT 281-0" and stuff like that? Is it part of the main story (Acts) or is it just side stuff?

Is Darth doing this mainly by himself? If so, major kudos to him.
A bunch of people have contributed significant portions, but yes, I'm doing the bulk of the work. If you're reading this and you know Japanese, please help! =D

Yes, the OP will be regularly updated with the latest patch. And if you can't figure out what's in the yet-unnamed files, are you sure you should be translating? ;-)
(It's all the other NPC text and messages for each act)

I'm just throwing this out there, but I want to know what you think...

Does this look better than the current descriptions? It is difficult to write a properly worded description in such a small space. It may be better to summarize like this. There are a few advantages to this format. First off, you save room. Second, it just looks better. Third, you don't get sloppily worded descriptions.

ALSO, the weapon lists under "Weapon Info" were a little messy. I fixed them up, but stumbled upon a different problem. In some places, the weapons were separated by commas. In others, they were simply separated by spaces. I decided to go with spaces because some of the weapons leaked onto the second line. The problem is that descriptions like "Dual Swords Fists" do not work. We might be able to work around this by using two spaces to separate the words. I'll test it out now.

EDIT: I forgot about another error. One of the descriptions said "2 Lance, Spear" or something similar. "2 Lance" makes no sense, so I changed it to "Lance". However, the Japanese text does have the number 2 in it.
"????????2?"
The best I could come up with using an online translator is...
"Lance?2 Kinds of Spears"
Can I just summarize it as "Lance Spears"? (The "s" at the end of "Spears" implies that there is more than one type.)

P.S. Do you want me to start changing dashes into ellipses or are you planning on doing that yourself?

Currently Checking: (This is for personal reference. You can ignore it.)
Act 2 - Quest Logs
Title (Class and Weapon Descriptions)

You guys are going SO fast! Unbelievable, you give official developer localization teams a run for there money.
BTW, how many Acts are there?

Well, it goes pretty fast, so don't worry too much about it. Also, I've been meaning to mention another thing about the grammar - I don't like how a sentence looks when it's cut off at the end of a message box without any punctuation, so that's why I've been using commas even though they wouldn't be as appropriate if the sentence were on a single screen. I'm not entirely satisfied with that, but I can't think of a viable alternative that doesn't look worse. It's difficult finding a good trade-off between accuracy and readability.

I just tested out two spaces and it looks fine. I'll test out "?", but I just want to point out that it might be awkward when the text breaks into another line. Is this okay?

...xD! I just started removing commas that weren't appropriate. You should have mentioned this earlier. I think we should keep the inappropriate commas off. The sentence just reads weird when you stick, random commas in them.
