Hacking Softmod + USB laoder?

Hey, I'm thinking about purchasing an xbox 360 within the next month or so and I was wondering if there was a softmod and a usb loader solution. Or if I would need a modchip to play back up games.

you'd need a JTAG for usb loading, and only older consoles with pre NXE dash board can be JTAG'd.
your only option is to flash ixtreme firmware to the dvd drive and play backup copies on dvd-r dl disc.
well that or go legit.

I'm certainly not above loading back ups from discs, is it easy to flash the software? and will it work with new xbox 360s?

there are tutorials online on how to do it for certain drives, you'll need your dvd drives keys first and honestly the newer your system is the odds are the harder it will be to retrieve them, all you need is a pc with sata ports a sata cable(some people will tell you to get a VIA chipset SATA PCI card but i have a 780G AMD chipet sata controller and it works fine) unless it's a lite-on drive then you need to do it a bit more hardware invasively and a way to power the drive(you can just use the 360 for powering the drive i've dome this with no issues or live banning)
as far as flashing ixtreme firmware that's the easy part.
the jungleflasher tutorial .pdf explains this okishly for different drives, but it's better to watch some do it in a video if possible.

My question is, what are the chances to hack it to play games off the internal HDD ?

Well, you can do that with the profile trick. (Read the guides section of xbox 360).

Though from what I'm hearing profile bans are happening but it hasn't been confirmed yet...

I'd wait and see how they handle the xdg3 games before spending any cash on a pre order.Flashing a fat 360 is easy,flashing a slim 360 has just got more complicated since last dash update,so if you want to flash a 360 buy a good but older fat 360 and buy a via card if you got a spare card slot and a longish sata cable.(via card is optional if you already got a compatable chipset in your pc)

You can power it with your 360,but a ck3 makes life easier.And if you got a liteon drive (pull faceplate off
"just pulls off only on the fat 360" and under the drive theres an hole if you see yellow wires its a liteon) then you'll need a probe,so get a probe 3.Try to grab a 360 with a benq drive (white wires) as there the very easiest drive to flash.
All the above can be bought for under £30,so it makes sense to buy the tools and flash yourself,than pay someone £20-30 to do it and with the updates that are being released by C4 and MS with their counter dash updates,it is worth the cash and less hassle than taking your 360 to get flashed every few months.
Read the jungleflasher tutorial pdf and follow noobs part for your particular drive,and watch a few vids on boobtube,just to give you an idea of what to expect,but follow jf tut not a boobtube vid.

USB Loader mate, you can't have that with a drive firmware change... I'm waiting for x360key reviews, if they work i'll certainly buy one. 90€? pfff i would end up spending more in DVD-DL than on the device.

A cheaper more versatile device would be to make a Pogo mo thoin as the ck probes are not compatible with the 0225 firmwares that Microsoft flashed the fat Lite-on's to during the 13146 update.

Also, that method has been patched.
RGH is the only option for XBLA/DLC.
