another thing: yeah, tweaks works, but just running it, then not even installing anything and powering down the system corrupts the sysmenu...thats pretty bad guys, not gonna sugarcoat it.

and again....so how does installing a new .....00000xx.app file not break the ARC mod05 hacks/starfall hacks?
are they located in some other part of the system menu's title?

-probably already said, but mios8 wad needs to be in the root, not in the wad folder like it is in the rar, for the non-network install.

what do you mean by "non-network install"?

if i install everything like the guide says, is it ok to leave the mios.wad in the wad folder?

First uhm system menu corruption... should not be possible as nothing is altered until you pick an app to install, as install location is determined by app name alone. I'll ask crediar to look into it though
The system menu is in parts. The Main Dol is stored in 43 or 46 depending on if you are ntsc or pal. The graphics the system menu uses are stored in 42 or 45 again depending on ntsc or pal. So installing to 42 or 45 leaves the patched dol alone, only altering the graphics which are rendered together on the fly web page style

What are the benefits of updating to softmii 2.0 when all I see are people getting errors and games that previously ran just fine with softmii 1.0 are not with the new softmii 2.0. I'll admit I'm a n00b with this but i'm not stupid (every expert here at one time was a n00b at one time). I have my wii hooked the fuck up with everything I need right now, why should I upgrade to 2.0, what benefits are there in the new version other than new themes (which I don't like). Please be thorough and explain to me what exactly is better. Thank you.

i really wish people would read.
The compatability between 1.0 and 2.0 for wii games is the same. people having problems aren't following instructions properly.
2.0 includes GC backup loading from disc channel, slightly better compatibility than the loader, just like with wii games.
As for the softmii site being down, no its not you have to type it exactly as
Http://softmii.org
not www.softmii.org having a resolve issue with that for some reason right now

i was thinking of installing softmii but the only reason i didnt was due to the "your already at the wii sysmenu asshole" when pressing the home key. Is that still in softmii 2.0.1??

that wasn't in the first softmii from what i remember
it's in version 1.0

all you have to do is not install the 0000004X.app and you will be softmii'd without the asshole message

awesome, ive seen people complain about that but no response on how to avoid it. thanks alot!! You said its in 1.0, did they ever remove it from 2.0 or its still in there if i did decided to install 00000042.app?

yes the 4X.app files are in the 2.0.1 release, not sure if the asshole message comes with these 4X.app files though

If the 4X.app is installed, is there a way to reverse it incase it has that message? I have the original ntsc 42.app, do you just install the original files over? or is there an option to disable it?

just installed softmii 2.0 and everything runs smooth. Just one question, after running a game and going back to the system menu, is it suppose to reboot?

If anyone is interested I edited the softmii 2.0.1 doc.. It was a bit confusing to follow but this is a bit better with choices actually matching the instructions! Also included a quick fix for RVL-mios-v8.wad which should be in the root and not in the wad as mentioned earlier.

Oh i figured out why my system reboots after trying to get back into the system menu. I changed the option "Return to: Preloader" to "Return to: Systemmenu" in the preloader settings. Now it doesnt reboot and goes into the system menu like its suppose to. So far im liking Softmii 2.0! =)
