I own a PS3 with the BW compadibility (cecha01).... shoud i hack it?

also, when i do, any good emulators for it?

That depends what you'd want to use it for. If you'd hack and then want to go back to OFW, simply wipe the disk.

I have a PS3 60GB too, but it's stored away. Makes me think if I should just sell it since I don't use it.

Has the PS3 ever been serviced before ? (new thermal paste, delid etc.)
If not then you should at least apply new thermal paste.
And a CFW on a PS3 Fat is a must-have these days........ it's worth it alone for webman mods dynamic fan control

And for emulation you really only need Retroarch CE

The PS3s I've personally had were mostly quiet albeit with some minor noise, except one which I bought for really cheap (but it's going to be sold, so don't care about it).

Fan Control via WebMan or other homebrew apps definitely helps it, if it needs.
