Um... Just so you know, that PSP-3000 was just announced. Announcing a product and the actual release are completely different. The release date for the PSP-3000 as of right now is October 15, 2008.

I'm sorry, I was giving the reader the benefit of the doubt in being able to assume some basic information...

"So how long until the PSP 3000 is hacked AFTER IT COMES OUT" (obviously).

Sigh.

And of course I'm not looking for an answer such as "1 week, 2 days, 12 hours and 28 minutes." This is a speculation thread.

No one can give you an answer to an impossible question

Only sony know what the differences are in the new 3000

But i bet it won't take that long once Dark_AleX gets hold of one

What do you mean? The blue Madden has been hacked in the same way (Pandora) as every other slim released from day one. So, YES easy, YES doable.

Not if Sony fix the IPL signing bug which allows Pandora to work.

no.
ta88 v2 is only hackable via DC6.
it is still not possible to install custom firmware on ta88 v3.

Do you think that Sony can create a PSP that cannot be hacked by software alone?

They already have, the PSP 1000, and the PSP 2000.

You need a magic memory stick (which contains files needed to install the CFW) and a pandora battery (the hardware portion).

They already hacked the PSP-3000: Video Link

Now on a serious measure, I think one of the few ways to stop hacking, is to make internal storage, and then it might still be, it could be a separate partition of the PSP memory that is not read directly at start-up. Only read when selecting "Memory" option or something. And locking memory stick use with a special program that pops up instead of a file browser, and with that it would install all of your download game from the playstation store, or music, but still, that would piss off some psp users, and would be hacked soon.
But Sony cannot stop hacking, hacking can't stop Sony either.

If they redesigned the motherboard to use something other than the standard factory service tool (aka Pandora), it will take quite a bit of time for the PSP-3000 to be cracked. The whole Pandora thing happened because someone smuggled the service tool out of the factory. Hackers will either need to get ahold of the service tool for the PSP-3000, or find another game exploit.

Don't forget that the more Sony changes the PSP-3000, the more compatibility problems it will contract in the process. They may decide to plug up the Pandora exploit, however they'll have to find another way of fixing all the bricked PSPs that come flooding their way - and if they use something as convenient as Pandora, then there's no doubt that someone will smuggle that out as well.

The one thing I hope they don't do, is try a repeat of Black Sunday (many thousands of hacked Cable systems all over America corrupted themselves due to a security check that took place over many separate update packages and only activated when they were fully compiled - one of the more legendary feats of counter-hacking). Sony will lose most of the customers if they pull that sort of trick - customer service should come first, always.

There are reports that the psp3000 doesn't use the same type of battery as the previous models. This might make using the pandora battery hack impossible.

There are already unhackable PSPs on the market. Sony still uses batteries to unbrick, but the new motherboards only accept FW code signed by Sony. So if you try to flash it with a Pandora memory stick it will fail because the CFW code is not signed by Sony.

Well, from what I've heard from my parents, he had a seizure last night, perhaps an epileptic episode, fucking died, had a near death experience, my dad called the paramedics, they showed up, took him to the hospital, and he woke up covered in tubes, and started complaining.
