Hacking So, DVD+R works?

looks like we have another cross flasher... lol... usually just upgrading the drives firmware will give you the option to set the booktype... or you need the special app from the manufacturer....

As I said, mine was one of the apparently 2 drives Lite-On made that aren't supported by Lite-On. The only official firmware download is from HP, which is from 2004 and would have already been on my Drive since I bought the PC in early 2005.

your drive is whats known as a rebrand...
And cross flashing is ok...
the lol was just for the heck of it lol....
however I do know of a tool that could set your drives booktype without one....
Also if you want I can point you to an app that can reset the drive to regionfree...

Don't worry too much about setting the burning speed slow. I've always burnt my backups on 8x and never gave me any problems. you should use TDK, Verbatim, Sony media etc, as they seem to be perfect for the Wii. DVD+R is still ok to use as long as they are a good brand.

Is Maxell any good?

Side Note: DVD+R made Wii Music not work at all, but DVD-Rom made it work perfectly so far.

Check with ImgBurn the Disc ID and check in Da List what class of media you have, I have SONY D21, +R and always burn at 16X on a Lite-On writer SHM-165H6S

I'd say grab a Pioneer drive if you intend on burning DVD+R media. Auto-booktypes.

I second this recommendation. All, if not, the vast majority of Pioneer burners all auto-booktype your shizz.

I'm a newb so I don't understand this whole booktype thing.

I've got a Lite-on DVD Burner
I use Nero Essentials to burn
I burn at 4x
I use Phillips DVD-R
Work's great from what I've seen

I burned through 5 verbatim DVD+R and none of them work.

So my question is, why won't the DVD+Rs not work? Is it because of the booktype

I just checked and my booktype is set to DVD-ROM, but I can change it to DVD+R, would this make a difference? Anyone know why?
