I tried out Snes9x TYL 4.2 standard on my PSP Slim (running 4.01 M33-2). No matter which game I play (I chose Kirby's Dreamland 3 first, then Kirby Superstar, then Mario World... all the same), it always seems to run very slow. Kirby's Dreamland 3, which should be a very safe game to test out, has a framerate fixed very firmly on 22-23fps. Now I can play it this slow, but it is just that, slow. The most frustrating thing is the music, which is just as slow.

Changing the settings (sound quality, emulated sound or no, hardware accellerated or no) seems to have absolutely no effect at all on the speed. I've tinkered with everything that might change the speed, but I can't seem to make it run at full speed (or get any slower for that matter). Also I keep the clock at either 300 or 333Mhz, although the difference is exactly 1fps.

My two questions:
1) Why is it going so slow?
2) Is there any way to make it faster?

People have been saying that it's been full speed since before 3.60, so there really shouldn't be any reason for it to be slow, right? What am I doing wrong?
Thanks in advance to any who can help me

I'm impressed. Kirby's Dreamland 3 sped up to 36fps, which is near normal speed. I'm testing out Mario RPG, just as a full 2.5d rendering test. It's stable at 60fps, which is a good sign, 50fps in battles, and dropping to 20 only when I use a jump attack.

Other games (Mario World, Seiken Densetsu, etc) all play at full speed. I'll try out the Final Fantasies later. EDIT: FF3 works fine, with 55-60 overall, 37-45 in battle, and only dropping to 18-19 when a spell is cast (bioblaster). Thanks Myuu, Ryu.

Btw, I know that the Kirby Superstar games are the same (I've got them both, physical and ROM). The point was just to be able to play those kind of games when I've only got the PSP on hand as an alternative to PSP games. Many SNES games have already been ported over to DS, and have been improved upon too.

I've also just downloaded the second R14beta version of Daedalus. I'll try it out with a couple games, just to see how good/bad it is. Mario Tennis is one of the ones I wanted to play, since it's such a fun party game (even if Daedalus cannot do party gaming).

I wouldn't get your hopes up. Most games will just boot then freeze, the only game that works 100% full speed is Super Mario 64 without sound and with frameskip.
