Hacking SMB Sharing

Can we access shared directories from the Wii yet? It would be nice to be able install wads directly from the PC without having to copy them to an SD card first. I have a feeling that spring loaded mechanism is not going to last long the way things are going.

Does something similar to what youre talking about. Launch it on your wii, gives you an ip, then use a compatible program to ftp. If i remember correctly some ftp apps dont work with it, but you can use windows explorer. Type your ip in the top box "ftp://192.168.etc.etc"

There's no SMB support. Just FTP for the moment.

it really wouldn't work. more often then not network does not provide good enough transfer / reliability as opposed to portable data options.

just use the SD card, nothing exceeds it except MFE as far as I know of, and network will be available for media center homebrews soon.

I have an XBOX with the XBox Media Center dash installed, and I play all my videos over SMB. I'm not talking small 4 or 5 MB videos, I'm talking about full 700MB feature lenght movies. Hell, I can even load a DVD ISO from my laptop (which is on Wireless) and watch it with no glitches, or slowdowns! And that's 4.8-8.6 gig!!

What are you talking about "doesn't provide good transfer rates and reliability?? You really need to know before you talk man...

snes9x 2.0 for GC has the ability to load roms from a SAMBA server so yes, this is probably possible, the library is here: http://devkitpro.cvs.sourceforge.net/devki...b/?sortdir=down



but this requires a BBA adapter for gamecube, someone need to add support for Wii LAN
