If they did, it would (Almost definitely) be panned as a half-assed sequel to Brawl, especially if no new mechanics are added. If they make a sequel, they'll put their all into it which is why I think it makes more sense to re-release Brawl/Melee with a few added features since Sakurai likely won't make a Smash Bros. 3DS game. Nintendo isn't the kind of company to ship out a new game without putting a lot of effort into it first.
I think Nintendo should position Smash Bros. as a showcase piece for their new hardware.
It's one game where they don't have to work on a story or some impossible setting, just work hard on the gameplay mechanics of throwing folk 'round.
It shows all their characters on the new system, so people can go "omgomgogmogmogmgom look at zeldo's sword on the wii6!!!".

They kind of took this approach with 3DS, but used puzzle pieces.
I doubt we'll see smashing brotha's for a year or two.
It took mario party like 9001 years to get a portable version.

I'd like to think that it would release for 3DS but with the release of this new hardware of nintendos. I just don't see it happening.

If anything now, they'd release it on this new console.

Smash Bros does have a story.
Anyway,I don't see this happening anytime soon.

However it's fairly light hearted and not exactly plot heavy so it wouldn't require much time to work on.

I really want to see it on the 3DS though, I can see why they skipped the DS because it would look a bit rubbish even when compared to the n64 version let alone brawl and the controls would be terrible due to only having a d-pad. The 3DS fixes both these problems with the slide pad and wii like graphics plus DLC like downloadable characters, items and levels would stop it from feeling repetitive which is my only real problem with the series.

I can't see why people are hating on brawl so much. If they did make one, maybe the let you set the speeds or whatever.

They could bring all stages and charterers through all SSB games.

I loved Brawl - definitely far more fun than Melee was. I'd like to see a portable Smash Bros - but one that's made from the ground up for the 3DS, not a port. I'd definitely like to see some a few more franchises represented, and some of the series that have multiple representatives trimmed to make room for newer characters.

Uh, what the hell are you talking about? A lot of people (Myself included) like remakes once in a while, but no one is saying that's all they want. Super Smash Bros. Melee came out a while ago and it would be nice to see it with a fresh coat of paint.
No it won't.
Ask them to make a new game.
Smash Bros. isn't that hard. I'm sure they re-used assets from the first in the second and third.
I have to agree with Nollog.
Super Smash Brothers is really the same game over and over again with different characters.
Rather than asking for a remake, ask for a new game with the stuff from Melee.

Have you ever PLAYED them? At more then a completely, utterly novice level? The games play way differently. It's not just that the characters are different, tons change. Character keep their general moves and styles, but the moves often respond different, act different or are changed out. Brawl was a lot more flighty, compared to Melee which was a pretty grounded game. I spend most of my time doing air combos in brawl, where I hardly leave ground-combat for melee.

The biggest thing they reuse are some stages, and a general character roster.

EDIT: and Brawl receives a lot of hate because most people were used to ground combos, and a lot of people can't control their jumping. It's a fine game if you get used to it.

They wont, Nintendo have been releasing Smash Bros for their home consoles exclusively and they have no interest in an hand-held version, so give up on this

I hope Nintendo doesn't waste his time porting a fighting game with non-respensive control, slow motion, stupid weapon and frustrating fighting environement.

If the do make one, I think it would be from the ground up.

Nintendo has announced at least 2 ports of N64 games to the 3DS. By the way, the n64 is a home console.

I don't care if it is a port of any previous smash bros game or a brand new game, as long as it has online.
