Well, the problem is that the receivers needs their DS flashed, so it's your friends who need to void their warranty and risk the ds being bricked... Also it's just much handier if it's not needed.

Also, how is the downloadplay compatibility with to a flashed ds actually? Are there any statistics about that?

Pfft, anyone who says the voided warranty is a problem has never actually had to use it. Nintendo doesn't check as other users have done warranty exchanges on flashed DSes. Same goes for bricking in the flashing process. If you bricked your DS, it is your own fault as you are incapable in doing so. I'm sorry you feel that way about yourself.

Everything works when a flashed DS receives.

Just to point out that download play works for the same games on every slot 1 card.

The list stating download play works for Mario Kart on a DS1 is WRONG
I have a DS1, Download play does not work on Mario Kart but internet play does work.

It's pointless to make a comparison list when they are ALL THE SAME.
Making a list of working and not working download play games would be worthwile.

Download play working or not working is not a feature of the Slot 1 card you are using, but a feature of the downloading DS without any cart.
ALL the Slot 1 cards patch the ROM before passing the data to the host DS, so the data will always fail the check on the unflashed downloading DS.
FLash the downloading DS and it no longer makes the check.
Not all games have the check included in the ROM, so these games will work for download play.

I don't have a DS-X (overpriced rip off piece of junk that costs $8 to manufacture) so can't check, but as every other slot 1 card appears to be a reverse engineer of the DS-X (almost all have identical hardware ... ACTEL ProASIC 3 plus flash memory chip) it is very unlikely that they would be any better or worse. The only possible advantage a DS-X could have is tighter control of the I/O routines and quality of the flash memory used, so theoretically something might be able to be done on a DS-X to enable download play on all games, but I doubt it.

It's more likely that hackers will release patches to remove the checks from within each ROM file.

not my DS needs to be flashed, but all the DS's of the people I download play with need to be flashed. And I don't think they all like the idea of putting a screwdriver in their ds's just to download a fucking game. So just having it work without flashing just spares some trouble and if people want a device that can do so without modifying a DS, let them.

If you want to check out what games dwnload play works on check out the Ninjapass X9 wiki
http://wiki.scorpei.com/index.php/NinjaPas...patibility_list

all the Slot 1 cards are the same for download play and this list is the most complete I have found.
I own an X9, DS1 and a R4/M3 simply and can assure you they are all exactly the same for this feature.

It is the DS downloading the game that does the check, and needs to be flashed to remove the check.

Thought so too, but X9 seemed to differ a little anyway...
There seem to be some conflicts between the X9 list at scorpei and the OP. Download play with Big Brain Academy and Ridge Racer is said not to work with the X9.

Also as New Super Mario Bros, Mario Kart and Worms work on DS-X, the device seems to mather, but it's only a real difference between DS-X and the rest (and apparently a little differene between X9 and the rest, negatively)...

1. Having to work for a solution is just out of the question. No one should have to actually work for what they want to function. You are correct, sir.

2. It worked for me just fine with 2 receivers. It also took a long time to download, maybe a few minutes. Not worth it.

No they're not. For example, download play works with Mario Kart DS and my DS-X.

Then why does MKDS work between my DS-X and an unflashed DS?

How's that saying go? Don't knock it until you've tried it? The DS-X is obviously doing something other than "tighter control of I/O routines."

If Mario Kart works for download play on the DS-X then the software must have been written to patch that particular game to remove the checksum. I'm sure the other cart makers will get round to it. Still cheaper to buy a R4 + a Mario Kart game than the DS-X.

I doubt the DS-X team is implementing fixes for each individual game, but if you need to tell yourself that to perpetuate your troll, feel free. The point here is that support for download play is not the same for all of these cards as you claimed above.

Besides, if you think $40 is a lot of money then a cheaper card is probably for you. Some people make more than that in an hour. Some people also might feel that $40 is well spent for better download play compatibility.

I went today and looked at a motorcycle someone was selling. I get there and the battery on it was dead, so the guy grabbed a battery charger and hooked it up. He plugged it into the wall, and the motorcycle sparked and started smoking. Come to find out the bike uses a 6 volt battery and the guy had the charger set to 12v. I said sorry to the dude and walked away. I felt bad for him tho.
