Very Noob Question, just got my Sky3DS the other day, is it safe for me to update to the latest firmware? Are their any downsides? Thanks for helping a new user out

It's not because cartridges, just like any other storage medium, deteriorate over time and vary from one another in terms of R/W speeds. Even if Nintendo did implement that sort of Anti-Piracy protection, nothing is stopping pirates from simply matching that R/W speed with their fututre cartridges. All in all, it's a wasted effort and a flimsy way to determine whether or not the cartridge inserted is a flashcart when there are easier ways to go about it that are more accurate.

"/s" indicates end sarcasm.

Safe to update to 9.7, no downsides, however if you are on =<9.2 might be better to stay there for now.

Not sure if real discussion...

...or trolling for Nintendo?

They're trying to block everyone. They're using ban hammer to moderate general headers. Not just for Sky3DS users.

They're trying to update faster than the flashacarts to keep them out of date.

They're trying to check FW updates with NNID to prevent FW spoofing.

They're trying to kill the ROM DUMPER and keep the GAME PLAYER on its toes.

If they could block it already, they would have. It would be a lot easier than what they're resourcing themselves to do.

And they know who's doing it.

The real question is when they do, will they also kill their market? We keep them in business for as much as they hate us for it. Yet they love to rape our children for money.

If they had the bomb, they'd have used it first...

Had we waited two weeks, the Japanese atomic bomb would have been used on our Allied fleet, and this was one of the reasons they kept dragging their feet to give up. When it became known that a third bomb would be dropped on Tokyo, they began to talk peace.

Lmfao at all the noobs saying Gateway is dead. This happened last time Nintendo changed their encryption in 7.X, everyone thought Gateway was dead. After a couple of months, they'd cracked the encryption and the game was back on.
