Ok so finally got homebrew on my 3ds using browserhax but I'm kind of afraid of downgrading to 9.2, what are the pros and cons of downgrading and if I do will I be able to play acnl with new dlc update or go online?

I followed the steps but after I press the Y button it says I'm missing a .cia file. How do I find the missing .cia file? Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, follow Plailect's guide. Any 3DS with 10.7 or below can be downgraded for free, while 11.0-11.2 need either a hardmod or a second hacked 3DS with DSiWareHax.

Not with a hardmod. If you have a 3DS console with CFW you can use DSiWareHax.

Downgrading from 10.7 during installation I got a black nintendo error screen. System boots with SD card, system settings show version 9.2, how can I be sure if the downgrade completed successfully or if I've got a partial 9.2 downgrade?

There is a tool for that. However, the easiest way is to just run sysDowngrader/whatever you used and downgrade again as it'll only downgrade whatever titles it didn't the first time. I can tell you you most likely have a Frankenfirm and you should retry the downgrade.

I did this, but it instead of updating my SYSnand from 8.1 to 9.2, it downgrade my EMUnand from 11 to 9.2

No. You'll need a second system with custom firmware or a hardmod to downgrade from 11.2. Downgrading from 11.2 without either of those things isn't going to happen for a while.

Just to report. I just successfully used this application to downgrade from 10.6 to 9.2 on a USA N3DS.

Didn't have to jump to other firmware first or anything, just went straight from 10.6 to 9.2 and it worked flawlessly. Thank you!
