Cheers for the info VHD, doesn't seem too bad. You might want to get an aircraft carrier close to the japanese too as you can send airstrikes to help you. Are aircraft carriers available in this version? don't know.. When you fight the enemy does it display the battle info like defense and attack, I can't seem to display it.. Will check out more.

@CPhantom - it might grow on you, its' portable so it won't be the same as the PC or other versions. Then again, the developer didn't mean to make it exactly the same.

I'm going to give it a go..

I tried the game and it was very hard to control but aside from that it seemed decent enough (I only played for half an hour).

It's not portable Civ either, the gameplay is completely different (it's only similar on the surface but it's completely reworked though in a good way).

CPhantom must be playing a 'special' version of the game because it's not watered down you twit.

Sid Meier himself who was the primary designer/worker on this game said the DS is missing the civlopedia, 3D visuals, and stunning console audio. He said the core gameplay, maps (albeit in 2D), visuals (redrawn), and audio (just different) are the changes.

So how exactly is that watered down?

Hillsy yes terrain bonuses, battle capability of you and the enemy unit, and other useful facts are listed. I have no idea if the aircraft carrier is there. I only have like 2/3 of the tech or so unlocked so it could be there. I was actually thinking of pushing up the Manhattan Project and irradiating the Japanese just for old time sake.

After playing both the DS version and the XBLA version I can say it isn't really "watered down" at all. It plays very much like the XBLA version and pretty close to Civ 4 even

Hello all,
Does anyone here experienced my problem with CivRevDS?
I had a first full party wich ran ok all along, but when I started a second one with the Chineses, at 1125 , the game froze while the other civilizations moves are computing (right after pressing B, end of turn).
When I rebbot the DS and reload the party, the game freezes at exactly the same point.
Does anyone here have an idea or the same strange behaviour from the game?
Thanks by advance.

What are you playing it on?
Works fine on my M3 DS Real.

Although I tend to win before that date by taking their capitals quickly.

I find India to be great to start with.

Anybody can give me a brief description of Civ Revolution? Is it like turn-based Empire Earth or something?
I found it kind of similar with Age of Wonders.
The similarity allowed me to plow through the AIs on the 1st three difficulties (Bombers in 1700 hell yeah) even though its my first Civ D:

This is pretty danr addicting, it made me NOT play FFTA over the last few days!

I'm new to Sid Meier's but it's pretty good.
Reminds me of Travian, though there's probably a ton of aspects of the game I don't look at or use.

You just have to be aware that Age of Wonders stole from Civilization and that Sid Meyer invented the whole genre ... So in fact AoW is a Civ-Clone.

I didn't really like the DS version. Too much influence is lost - the PC versions are way better. It might be "portable" but it sucks IMHO.

Let's consider, the Wii is about as poweful as let's say a PS1/2, which would be 100~150 bucks to produce.

Oh really? It's generally thought that the n64 was more powerful than the ps1 and that the gamecube was more powerful than the ps2. That puts the Wii somewhere between the gamecube and the ps3

This is a great game. Tried it on the first day with just easy setting and Alexander(I think) and ended up finishing the game. That's even before the cheats were available.
I was hoping to try this out before getting the PC version. I'm very likely to get the PC version now. Enjoy!

Good game. Feels like playing Ikariam (the alternative to Travian). I chose this over Age of Empires because this has Wi-Fi, but the two games are pretty identical. I wonder how this will do against the new Age of Empires: Mythology, which also has Wi-Fi and it supposedly has a lot better graphics (the gameplay videos show amazing combat sequences) and a more lengthy gameplay. Can't wait!
