Can cheap chips be good?

I was craving some ruffles cheddar chips the other day, I refuse to pay $5 for a big of chips so went with the next best option store brand.



Do these hit? Yes it has a slight spice even for queso. Texture wise basically the same. The thing about some store brand items tend to over season which isn't a bad thing but can be over powering.



This is why I don't like buying big quantities of items. At about $2.50 a bag it's about the same deal as a mini 1oz big kind of sad but Murica. Still rather impressed. Just try different brands sometimes if you don't like them you aren't out a bunch of money. 3/5. Only a few and I'm satisfied.

I can confirm cheap store brand chips can be excellent, some of the ones I know being Kettle cooked or have Novel flavouring, for example the President's Choice brand where I live have many great ones, few I would even consider better than the "better" branded options.

The other ones I know usually are Lay's clones, and those are not great, and that is even considering that the original also sucks and so you know there are no high expectations for anything that could easily be better with little to no improvement.

I know what you mean, but I doubt prices are even going to come down...
Are you ok never buying "Ruflles" again?
Or maybe just save it for special occasions.

If on sale and the price matches the store brand sure I'll go Ruffles, or I may just be in the mood for that small bag for lunch and buy those with a quick sandwich.
