You know, its funny how you say "one person's review doesn't equal everyone's opinion", yet half of that post was "blah blah thiss member on head-fi who is so respected doesnt like the S9 so I won't! and this other guy said blah blah" You're doing the same shit. You think you have some sort of bionic hearing just because you've had more experience with audio products than I have? Well, here's a quick fact for you: you don't. You're basically trying to use my inexperience in the field against me when it's very simple to see that the S9 is a solid product and is second to none in the certain fields it represents.
The S9 doesn't "force you" to do anything. You're just too much of a conceited stuck up snob to even give the custom EQ a shot, which is just stupid. If it comes with great features like customizable EQ of such caliber, why wouldn't you take advantage of it? It's not some shitty 6 presets, it's several custom effects that make a huge difference in SQ. Just because you refused to tinker with it doesn't mean the SQ is average. You basically chose to make it average.
Yes, I'm obviously serious about the touch sensitivity. Btw, touch sensitivity has nothing to do with the UI, which apparently you don't know. Touch sensitive is basically a measure of how responsive the product is to the touch. I'm using a user-created interface and it's snappy as hell, so I don't know what you're talking about.
How exactly is it just an "ok" audio and "good" video player? It's a very good audio AND video player. As far as audio goes, it basically supports almost every format. Oh, boo hoo, it doesn't support .aac. Maybe because it's nowhere near as widespread as other formats are. As far as video goes, it supports pretty much everything except mkv. Sorry, you can't watch your Boku no Pico without converting. I'd rather be able to watch 20+ hours of converted avis than 2 hours of unconverted mkvs.
Do you really need 55 hours of audio playback? No, you don't. But it sure as fuck is better than what, not even 10 hours? That's just a stupid remark. Do you really need wifi? Well no, but it's a nice thing to have. Do you really need bluetooth support? No, but some people will really take advantage of it.
I love the S9, but I know that it's certainly not perfect. It's prefect for me, but obviously it's not for others. I don't care if people think it's overrated, I care that YOU think it's overrated, and that's because you've had that same shit mentality before even trying it out. You were convinced that it was gonna suck, and you chose to ignore half of its features. You bash it left and right and try to make it sound worse than it is, and to top it all off, you throw around my inexperience with audio products just to show you have more authority in the subject. Is that really how you're used to winning your arguments? That's not a great skill to practice, you know.
By the way, my mom had both a Touch and an iPhone. She had the Touch for over a year and a half, and the iPhone for a few weeks, so I had more than enough experience with the products. As far as the Zune HD goes, notice how I ONLY commented on the features that are plain to see, not on the sound quality or anything else like that.
And as a final note, I'll give you a little something to think about. I've had my S9 for... what, 4 months or so? And it's one of the best purchases I've made. It's basically what gets me through the school day, and I couldn't be happier with it. On the other hand, YOU have been changing your mind almost daily about what product you want because NOTHING is good enough for you. You even capriciously blew off 200-something bucks on a Zune HD only to resell it shortly after. So in the long run, who has it better?
Feel free to reply to this post and continue to take a shot at my inexperience with audio products. Since, of course, me being unable to afford 15 pairs of 'phones and several different PMPs is a clear sign that I can't have an opinion on a product's interface, design, features, etc. You gotta rate all those things with your experienced ears, right?
