Ahh yes. This baby (We call it Ol' Reliable) is a 1942 Ford Pickup. We drive it down the country while shooting birds and chewing on wheat. It's a fine fine car

3.2l V6 Quattro. It's getting a little old but still has less than 70k miles, so I'll probably hang on to it for a few more years.

Fiancee and I bought it a couple years ago to replace fiancee's shitty PT Cruiser (which shat itself back then) and eventually it just became our main vehicle instead of just hers, replacing my 2009 Chevy Aveo (which had it's own slew of issues after only 5 years/80k miles ._.). 15 years old, only got ~95k miles on it currently. Just had about $2k worth of maintenance on it just a couple months ago so it runs nearly like new at the moment. It's a decent enough vehicle, though of course gas mileage is garbo in it but that's not too big an issue.

Beast!

I'm loving the look of the new Aviator they've been teasing, but it's probably going to cost as much as a decked out Range Rover. In which case, I'd just buy the Range Rover ... if I could afford one.

...Not really, mine's also black, same year/make, but not a Type R. 5 door too. Would love one of these though! Don't like the current model Civic, so might be looking elsewhere for my next brum brum... wife wants a Mini, but they're common as muck...

Get a Golf R! Subtle superiority.

Ha, no fuckin chance! I got coaxed into buying a Polo when I was younger: 'great, reliable car!' they said.... yeah right, POS cost me a small fortune to keep on the road, won't touch VW on principal since :P

Was your Polo made in Deutschland? I had a Mexican-made GTI years ago that was a hunk of crap, but I wouldn't hesitate to buy one made today in Germany.

It was.. but we're going back about 20 years here, I was young and naive, it was of course 2nd hand, from 'an old lady' previous owner, but it was fucked: had been in a crash (but I didn't know what I was looking for at the time) and kept falling to pieces on me... I know, I know, clearly not VWs fault, but it's just association now, like when I got food poisoning after eating a steak pie, and subsequently will never touch one again despite it not really being the pie's fault! Or something.

About the same time frame as my GTI then. It was a '98, and I bought it new. You must be a geezer like me (I'll be 51 next month.)

FWIW my Audi (also a VW brand) has been 100% for me since I bought it in 2011. But it is showing its age, while my wife's C-class Benz has more miles but still feels like the day we bought it. It isn't anywhere near as fun to drive as my 270hp A4, but it is clearly the better automobile for the real world. I'm seriously considering an E for my next car, but as I said above it'll be a few years yet.

2000 Oldsmobile Bravada AWD

Not my picture, but my exact car, same color, same year, everything. Looks exactly the same in every regard. I love this rig to death. Got it for $5,000 in good shape. I've replaced the spark plugs, plug wires, distributor+cap, left driver's mirror, a new tire, all new shocks, a new battery, new stereo with bluetooth, new speakers, and both front wheel bearings. Other than being a gas guzzler, she's good to me. :3
