Before the levels, there must be menu.
Today's task is menu work.

I should be doing the music, but I'm really struggling to get back into music work again. kinda sucks.
I might wimp out and raid the Aminet Mod list..

Also is there going to be new backgrounds as I got up to level 4 - world 6 I think...

and it would be even better for that but as you said menu work today... and hope you do get back into music work for the game even though the jump sfx and then running sfx are pretty cool!

The scores on the right are just there for space-checking right now, they'll be switched to something better, later.. (see iOS edition for how the scores work.)

The backgrounds, too, will be identical to the iOS ones. 2 worlds per background, so 10 backgrounds in total. The only reason there's only one background in the demo-beta-thing is that I couldn't be bothered

Please Pm me when you release a new DS Homebrew Version and is there only 1 released atm because I want to feature them on my site if that is cool with you, as it is not a ROM it is legal and a great ROM in a way without the legality issues and don't worry you'll get full credit!

Kinda depressing spending a month and a half building a big game like this, adding a complete mp3 soundtrack, upping to Apple, then getting feck all sales from it (about 50......)
So, get it known!!!!!

Progress Report

Full of flu, very little done.
Tweaked a few bits and pieces, attempted to get saves to work, but FAR too tired, and not really with it.

bad timing..

Still, I have at least started on the music

I won't argue with that..

I'll send some mod stuff in the morning (assuming I remember!! sucky memory!) since the files are on the other PC.
The soundtrack so far is sort of the same tunes as the iOS ones, but all done in simpler chip-tune styles.. (but.. you know.. with my "Not quite awesome, but good enough" musical talent

So, sure.. you can make a nice mod collection whilst I build it all up! Why not!
(RULES will be supplied..... dum-dum-durrr...)

You'd probably also want to add a link here, and probably download it, and stick it on your mp3 player, because that actually IS the original iOS soundtrack, in all it's "Blimey, that got a bit big, quite quickly, didn't it" glory!
(Same rules as the mods, I'll let you know what those are in the morning.)

Not sure which'll be the final one. the left one was made as a gag-case because folk kept whinging about my lack of Avatar. The right one was meant to be more the actual one, and is made in the style of the iOS branding.... .. but I'm starting to grow quite fond of the left one.. !!

Everyone ready for Beta 2?

I'll do the next 3 mods (bringing us up to 10) and then release beta 2.
Beta 2 will have worlds 1 through 10, complete with nice switching backgrounds, music, and proper collision detection, along with fixed levels where needed.
I'm currently playing through everything again, just to be sure!

I might also leave a half-complete editor in there, so you can fiddle about with it, and get your bearings.
The editor will not save yet! Mostly 'cos I haven't started to decide how best to do it, but you can at least play around with it in the meantime.

um...
.. yeah, so .. maybe tomorrow, if I can get everything nice and "packaged" correctly, so it doesn't implode if you try to go too far (like that scrambly text monster from World 9!)

Tomorrow, or if not, Friday.

Sheep Beta 2

Pros
10 complete worlds, (50 levels!!) complete with music, and lovely swoopy backgrounds.
Mini Editor! OMG!WTF!BBQ!ALODARE!!!


Cons
Still no scores.
Lives temporarily removed due to lack of "skip" function (see iOS edition!)
Nothing saves. Nothing.. Not even the editor!!
It's all just a nice play thing for the meantime.

Tricky
The sprites are the same, but the collisions are bumped up to the new sprite sizes.
As a result, those old levels are now 100,000% harder!!!

Really Tricky!
There's a couple of levels that seem impossible! But all are doable.
I spent the past hour out in the back garden playing through it all, and was quite happy that it was possible.
It's tricky! But it's doable!
.. and you do currently have infinite lives, so there's not a whole lot to lose.

To Do
A few more objects to fix, another 10 pieces of music to do, and then I'll be redoing all the levels so that they're at least a little easier!
(I'll probably do a 2-level-packs thing)

Great! I personally like the current difficulty level, but with finite lives maybe I would feel differently. The level editor is nice too. After a moment of figuring out the interface, creating with it was a snap.
 
Yeah, I'm a fan of the difficult levels myself, too, but given the absolutely pathetic iOS sales, I'm not so sure everyone else is

The iOS ones will be set aside as a hard pack, and I'll make an easier pack.
Might add a third..? Depends how quick I am at building, once the editor's ready to go properly.

I'm going to rest for a few days, so the next release might not happen for another week or two, but it'll come! Don't worry!!
