I love all these kiddies bragging about setups that they spent $1000+ meanwhile they use less than 4GB of RAM and less than 10% of the CPU's power.

Also the same people who'd pay $100 for a mouse and $200 for a keyboard just because they "look cool".

Because it depends on your definition of "sad". A person making 150,000 a year will think it's sad specs if they only have a 1070, but a person making 50,000 a year will think it's not sad.

Alright then.

I suppose my "sad" gaming PC is my GTX 1050Ti + i5-2500K build. I have a 64GB ADATA SSD in a SATA 3 and 2 7200RPM 500GB Seagate Barracudas in software RAID 0 (both from old PCs) plugged into SATA 2 ports. I also have 2 SATA based 5.25" DVD-RW drives because I had 2 of them from old PCs, had the cables for them, and space in my case. Both of my DIMMs have 4GB DDR3-1600s in there, but my board only supports up to 1333MHz to my RAM is throttled. The board also had only a PCIe 2.0 x16 and x1 slot, alongside a PCI slot. The board also lacks a USB 3.0 header for my Thermaltake Suppressor F31. It's powered by a EVGA 500B. It's all plugged into a 21.5" ASUS 1080p 1ms monitor via DVI-D.

1920x1080 laptop display

does the optane actually do something? from what i read it would only speed up the first HDD connected (the boot drive)

Optane *can* be useful in some scenarios, but I doubt it'll matter for most of us.

As for my specs.... They aren't really sad. I guess I can throw my old laptop in here, I still use it cuz... reasons.

It's some HP Pavillion g6 notebook. Has an AMD A4-3300M dual-core APU clocked at 1.9GHz. It does have 6GB of RAM for whatever reason. It is very usable now that I removed Windows and replaced the HDD with an SSD.

Was packaged in the wrong box so BestBuy couldn't sell it as a regular item and it ended up under the refurbished rack. The guy told me he'd hide it until they finished marking it down (went from $629 OG price, to $419, then to $379, then to $279, then to $205).
