So, I have the update servers blocked, and my system is safely at v5.3.2U. However, if I try to use the eShop, it won't open, because it says that a system update is needed. Am I stuck at not using the eShop, or is there a workaround?

As a requirement, Nintendo enforces having the latest firmware to allow for any shop access on all of their consoles and handhelds. You cannot work around it yet as there is no working spoofer.

That's the case with most consoles. Not handhelds, mind you, but consoles...

I believe there is no current workaround.

Well, that's what I was afraid of and assumed. I do remember that happening with the Wii, also.

Thanks for all the answers. I guess I'll just have to let my free eShop download code sit there, until another method has been found.
