that's interesting. can you rewatch the super mario bros 3ds trailer and can you tell me if you see the piano keys/notes have ghosting? because it is very bright and placed on a dark background and it caused awfully bad ghosting for me. the gears scene in the trailer should have them too. thanks
It seems good to me, no ghosting effect on that trailer/part. The only game I've ever experienced ghosting with was SW:C, Street fighter not a single ghosting sighted.

i find that....impossible O_O. how can your eyes overcome the limitation of the parallex barrier!

when im not lazy im going to call nintendo service since they told me to call in to talk more about it.....ill report to this site on what they say. im 10000000000000% confident that ghosting is a problem on the system.

I've just played that trailer five times, I don't see any ghosting and I know it exists as I've seen it in another game.

ok i trust you...thats really really interesting thing. just in case again (cause im that stubborn) you checked the piano keys right where the keys where super white and the back was dark purpleish?

interesting...but still you see ghosting in other games. dont know why you dont get it during that scene. someone else on this page has seen it too. i trust you though

edit: i just watched the trailer and i paused at the piano scene. one way i can tell if it's truly ghosting is by pausing and then closing one eye. one eye should see double images while the other should see (dont know if this is always the case) a clear image. i pauses at the piano scene and i saw double images in my left eye and a clear image on the right. are we looking at the trailer or is 3ds screens all made differently O_O

heh I hold my 3DS pretty far out, guess what I noticed when I brought it in closer.....ghosting! XD I think I hardly notice the ghosting as the distance between my eyes and 3DS is quite a fair distance. Yeah It's the piano keys! It's the limit of the 3D tech, not so advance.

maybe you should get a vision test
may not be that you have a bad eye or something but some people develop astigmatism which needs to be corrected (i developed it early this year and im 21)
i have a slight astigmatism in my left eye but my contact lens correct it and also correct my vision
like a dam hawk now!

please dont make it seem like something is wrong with my eyes. and i got a vision test recently thank you very much. what does astigmatism have to do with anything? i wear contacts which corrects it anyways. its not just me who has ghosting problem and alot of people have it. google it and lots of people have it as well.

I watched the Super Mario Bros. 3D trailer and I didn't notice any signs of ghosting until the piano part the two last keys or so showed some, the keys that were over a blue background didn't create any ghosting. Also, I didn't notice any ghosting when Mario was running on the cogs.
I paused the video and experimented with different lighting and screen brightness and this is what I got out of it...

Sitting faraway from the window. Daylight, cloudy, rather dark outside.
Brightness setting: 1, 2, 3

No ghosting, except the part with the last piano keys.
5 made the piano ghosting more visible. still no ''cog part'' ghosting.
Playing next to the window (direct light brightness setting 3) made the box in the piano part show some ghosting the cogs show no signs of ghosting.

Dark room.
Brightness setting: 1, 2
Some piano ghosting.
3,4 and 5 made all the piano keys show ghosting.
4 and 5 made the cogs show the effect.

Lit room
Brightness setting: 1, 2, 3, 4
Last keys in the piano part show ghosting.
5 and partially 4 make the all the piano keys show the effect.

So, don't play in complete darkness, When I play Zelda in 3D the room is lit and I don't experience any ghosting, even when I'm in the lost woods.
I do see ghosting from time to time, yes, but it's really isn't that apparent, I don't hold my 3DS and arm length away nor do I hold it really close.
I varies from time to time how far I hold it but as long as i don't tilt the system right or left or down I rarely see ghosting.

i tried some of your methods myself just now. i went to the piano scene and then paused it. then i clicked the menu button. this pushed the image somewhat back on the top screen with a title box in front of it. however i can still see the ghosting. So i changed the brightness settings while keeping this picture still and what i found is that it has no effect. it just makes it less bright so you don't notice it as much. But then i did your other test by placing it in bright light and IT DOES have an effect. it never completely get rid of it but it lessens it. but i think this is not ideal since the screen is reflective and when i do this the image doesn't look as rich as playing in the dark. i think its just some weird tricks of light that makes the ghosting less. anyways thanks for taking your time to do the test.

my contacts correct astigmatism. and this has nothing to do with it. if i remember, ign made a joke about someone not being able to see 3d because he had astigmatism and i fell for it. where are you getting that astigmatism affects 3d because that's what it seems like your implying.

you even stated this yourself:
"unless there is a black background then there can be a minimal ghost but thats about it"

maybe you should get your eyes checked too >.>

Well i think i play the wrong games ... never noticed any ghosting ... I am not even sure what this is supposed to be oO

I wear glasses while playing but even without them (i have astigmatism 140° !! oO) i still have no problem at all ...

It is easier to lose the "sweet spot" in OoT I'll admit that.

But assuming you don't jump around while playing it shouldn't be an issue.

"my contacts correct astigmatism" so you clearly have astigmatism.
astigmatism affect vision and can change quite quickly so worth getting checked if it has changed
astigmatism is different to being long or short sighted so both have to be corrected. and if you vision is piss poor in one eye compared to the other then you will see ghosting lol

yea a large black background will cause ghosts
ive never had it occur while in a game tho, just when i press home button and its zooms back to black

i get my vision checked every few months because of the astigmatism

your clearly a stress headed nut if your panicking this bad

if you get contacts lenses then eye tests are free so why not go get checked

astigmatism with glasses do not need correction because the glasses arnt on the eye

astigmatism is known to sometimes affect veiwing 3D
use google
heres one link
sauce

i've noticed some ghosting but it's minimal, mostly with black backgrounds. not enough to make me turn 3d off.

I wear glasses, have astigmatism, myopia and hyperopia, and I don't see any ghosting at all in OoT 3D, no matter which way I put the slider at.

In Pilotwings, if i go full 3D, i see ghosting everywhere, if i reduce to half, it looks perfectly good.

In OOT, turning the 3D on to even 10 % gives me severe ghosting and the more i put 3D on, the worse it get, so i play with 3d off for that game.

I'm an optical technician, and Optician magazine reported earlier this year on various reasons even tiny eye problems will affect your 3d viewing.

My GF has a minimal astigmatism in her left eye (prescription; s- 0.00 c- +0.25 - a - 018) and she struggles with the 3ds, but her eyes are not bad enough to warrant glasses or contacts. She doesn't report "ghosting", but "my eyes hurt" is probably her way of saying it!

I think if one eye has a marginally different prescription than the other, you will get a stronger image on one side, hence ghosting- you wouldn't get this on cinematic 3d as the 3d glasses are putting the effort in........

Now it will change from a "these 3ds's are faulty" thread, to a "you still need glasses to see the 3d" thread

Edit- also I find that OoT needs to be held further away than other games for the effect to be at it's best

iv noticed after prolonged usage that the 3ds becomes less 3d as i tested after 5 hours of play my 3ds starts to fade out with 3d all the way up and alignment goes off so everything looks distorted forcing me to turn it off. after 3 hours it goes back to normal.

so idk whats up...happens alot in pilotwings and nintendogs + cats

that sounds more like your eyes are getting tired
try just closing the lid (pausing game) and just shutting your eyes for 15 / 30min and see if it still seems less
