No game from this series released outside of Japan but the two patents seems like bullshit. It is one thing if they stole code from your game but another if this is one of the only viable control methods in your games. Well hopefully Sega will lose this case.

So Sega patented dragging a line from a character to move it? Or is this about the overworld control (hold stylus = move in that direction)? And what game did Sega use that in?

Sega do have a minor history of this sort of thing (their Crazy taxi patents being the most notable for my money). I shall probably dismiss it as I do all other software patents and parts of the world that use them but I might actually be tempted to track this one down and have a look.

"double touching" for shooting straight, dragging for movement, "single touch" for lobbing and whatever d) is supposed to be. I don't know they had a patent on such a universal control scheme for touch based gaming.

Looks like d is "tap the goal to shoot" which seems like an obvious design choice to me. I'm not sure what the last image is where the ball goes flying though.

It's one thing if Sega would be suing for using an industry-standard control scheme.
It's a whole different story if they're suing for replicating one game that happened to get popular out of dozens.

Unfortunately, I don't player soccer football games, so I don't know which this is.

Eh, sounds kinda like a squishy topic if you ask me. I mean all touch games use these kinds of controls...

It's all very clear now...

The kids in the patent look like they are in a "SpecialGroup"
take away the vowels because we know they can't use them:
=> spclgrp
multiplicative is commutative ab = ba

=> sgcrplp

c = 3 r = 18 c + r = 21
The alt code for 21 is §.
§ is defined to be a§b => a - b = 0
=> sg(21)plp
=> sg§plp
=> sg - plp = 0
=> sg = plp
multiply a and e on both sides
aesg = aeplp
commutative property again:
sega = apple

Sega has lawsuits because they are apple!

What a f#%&ing joke! How the hell is Sega gonna sue over a control shceme? Good luck with that!

Well it's like before, Nintendo could sue people over using the D-Pad of the same design of their controllers because they had it patented. But their license ran out in 2005, so now Xbox and PS can come out with a good D-pad, unless Nintendo renews the license. But this.. iono, this is just bizarre. It's not like Sega was even the first to use the control scheme.

Well, that was unexpected. But why just Inumaza Eleven? This is general enough of a control scheme you can sue a large amount of publishers.

Are Inumaza Eleven a relatively small outfit? I guess the idea is to first sue a small company who can't afford a decent defence lawyer. Then if you win that case, you have precedence on your side when you go after bigger fish

Level-5 is not a small company.

has sega been hanging around apple?
I was just thinking that; Sega saw how successful Apple was at their bullshitting marking their territory reminding others what are their original ideas and technology, Sega decided to turn Level-5 into jail bait follow suit in order to gain moneys gain internet fame reclaim what is theirs as well!!!
