You mean, you've scanned a QR code containing a Mii ?
If that's the case, then what you see are the parameters of Mii (head shape, hair color, eyes distance, and everything else) encoded in binary - that is, over 8 bits.

Open an .EXE file in Notepad, it won't make any sense to you either.

You mean, you've scanned a QR code containing a Mii ?

Looks like the data for the qr codes is encrypted.
The 2nd qr is exactly the same as the 1st qr except the name is changed from a to b.
The 3rd qr has just one facial feature changed from the 1st qr. The name is the same.

In each case the dots are completely scrambled. I don't know why the N wanted to encrypt this harmless data, but they did, lol.
 
What would happen if you scanned 2 codes, then used 2 halves of the code to make a QR code.

Example:
CODE‘,$FØk÷(BrM|ÃÐ}“ã
°ÍËϓϙûkÐ&‹ðmj&áØ°@:lÝiÍŸ$Ê7dH…ÏÎ(b
oÛI£êG|8SÂG0˜h–PF2

Then you take another code and replace the 3rd line.

I don't have another code. And what would happen if you try to scan the code Pong posted? I assume nothing, but what if you put the 'Mii' logo in the middle?

I have no form of hacking theory, I just find this interesting.

Nothing, it's the incorrect dot resolution. Nintendo qr codes are 57X57 dots, Pong's is 45X45 dots.

Also, if you observe post #6 there is strong evidence the qr data the 3DS reads is encrypted. This means that any qr code processed* from a non-3ds device will be unreadable to the 3ds.

*unless it is directly copied from a 3ds qr code, of course
 
I tried similar things with my QR codes and came to the same result, i believe them to be encrypted.

Even minor things such as changing the eye colour of my mii would result in a completely different QR code.

I was disappointed, i was hoping to work out how to manipulate the QR codes and try things that shouldn't normally happen (e.g there are six types of eye colour, what happens if i set the QR code to choose a seventh colour? etc. - most likely wouldn't have worked but fun to try)

By meh, nevermind. Maybe someone smarter than I will find a way to decode the codes/generate our own on our computers.

What you have to do is to compare the binary information stored in both barcodes (e.g. using a hex editor), not compare them visually.
But yeah, they might be encrypted anyway.
