I have a pdf of Idiot's guide to 4th edition DnD and I would love to read it on my DS. When I try and load it on the latest Ireader it just stays on the loading screen.

Should I convert the pdf file? If so, what format?

You should definitely convert the pdf file (so far, there hasn't been any really decent pdf reader for the DS). Generally, the best format to convert your pdf to would be .cbds or .ipk which are used by comicbook DS and image viewer DS respectively. Both can be found on filetrip IIRC. In my opinion, I like .ipk more since the browsing through images is a lot faster (bigger file though), but for most if not all other cases, cbds is definitely the way to go.

If your pdf doesn't have/need any graphics, just convert it to plain text, there are plenty of online converters for doing this, such as http://www.convertpdftotext.net/
that way you can read it in one of the many txt readers on the ds.
