Hacking Save files on an M3DS REAL

One of my games that I stuck on my SD card was working fine for about a day or so, but then it suddenly started freezing. I was wondering, if I got another .nds file for the same game, it would pick up the previous save file?

yeah it will
dont forget you have to rename them
the save file should have the same name as the .nds file name
e.g
abc.nds = abc.sav (this will work)
abc.nds = 123.sav (this won't work as they dont have the same name)
